Of course Kohli isn't getting dropped.

But he should also be put under the microscope.

Remove his Pune innings from 2019 and he averaged low 40's last year.

He's averaged 9.5 this tour.

He's now played 41 test innings (which is a lot of cricket) in England, NZ and WI and average's just under 35.

He has a GOAT record in Australia, however it's also coincided with some of the flattest pitches in history there.

Essentially he has a great record in SAF, anywhere else overseas that does a little bit, he has a decidedly average test record now.

It's no wonder the BCCI is trying to avoid the GABBA at all costs next summer.

what's the point of putting Kohli under the microscope. We aren't going to learn anything new or change anything.

Rather the focus goes on India's selections and prep for this tour. Could Bumrah and Ishant's fitness been managed better, could the side have prepared better ahead of these Tests. Should KL Rahul had been in the squad perhaps. And will they now realise that Jadeja should be first choice spinner overseas.

Hope Shami's injury isn't anything serious. Took a blow to that shoulder while batting, hopefully it's just that flaring up.

So he's perfect, immune from analysis and criticism, he doesn't need to improve, it's up to everyone else?

How about Kohli average better than 35 in NZ/Eng? Just a start maybe...

He's clearly been in a bit of a rut the last 12 months, it's conceivable he may have peaked as a test player.

Some seam, some spin, good pace, decent and occasionally variable bounce, and reward for good batting, and good bowling. There is NOTHING wrong with this pitch imo. Except for the lost revenue for day 4/5. A very un-CEO wicket.

"Virat." Such a ****ing ****. Agarawal has it too. Joke. Every other prick uses their last name, and it's not as though there are 400 other Kohli's having a game. Who does this wanker think he is? You don't see Finch walking around with "Arun" on his shirt, do you? Or Root with "Joe." They don't do it because they realize they aren't bigger than the game, and using one's first name is just a feckless episode in self-aggrandizement.

i think this pitch is fairer than most nz decks tbh. often the first innings is a hospital pass before the pitch roads out on day 2, so if you get sent it, massive rip (mccullum 300 test being the most extreme example). here both sides got a fair crack at the seam movement and now on day 3 it looks to be roading up.
