Simples. If Finch and Warner dont make a big contribution Australia wont win simple
They weren't great but they were far from the biggest problem tbh. Warner and Finch are in incredible ODI form right now and 250 was never going to be a defendable total with Bumrah not at his best.Didn't watch our bowling at all, did we bowl that poorly?
Those "old school totals" are what happens when sides play their best bowling attacks instead of the under 16s 3rd XI bowlers that we saw for the last 5 years (world cup excluded). We don't really know how good Aus is tbh. What won the game yesterday is exactly the same thing that has suddenly started winning Aus ODI games for the past year now: namely the bowling attack restricting oppositions to subpar, "old school" totals which are eminently manageable without going hell for leather which has never been an Aus ODI strength historically, and a top order in red hot form. Which means the things that failed - namely the backup bowlers and middle/lower order - remains untested.
The WC was really so different to these JAMODIs. Proper fast bowling on display, spinners being useless, cakey batsmen dominating, relatively low totals etc. Loved it.Those "old school totals" are what happens when sides play their best bowling attacks instead of the under 16s 3rd XI bowlers that we saw for the last 5 years (world cup excluded).
I mean look how big of an impact taking a single top order wicket early on has on a total. Rohit could easily have gone on to score 150 if it was Coulter-Nile and Behrendorff instead of Starc and Cummins.
Why is it embarrassing? Australian ODI team has always played well in IND . Even when AUS lost test series in INDIA in 98, 01, 08 they won the ODI series of that tour or next year.Team India thats embarrassing, considering on home soil and the preparation compared to aussies
Australia going for 5 wins in a row in India, and 2 series win in a row - now that's embarrassing
