This time zone sort of catches you out as the games start bang on prime time, which is great.

But they go long enough that they're also no good when you need to get up for work next day. :-/

Australia going for 5 wins in a row in India, and 2 series win in a row - now that's embarrassing

There were some positives for India. Australia's middle order made no runs at all and they got some valuable match practice for Bumrah. Kohli scored more runs than the Australian number 4, so that experiment was a success.

Whatever it takes!!!
Yeah, Australia is not that strong. Its sad that we were so bad yesterday that we got the thrashing of all thrashings from a side who are not quite top gear themselves yet. But we will always have white ball cricket problems as long as we keep getting batsmen who can't bowl and bowlers who can't bat. If guys as good as Smith and Finch can be arsed to bowl now and then, I don't see why a Shreyas Iyer or a Manish Pandey can't work a bit on their bowling and give the side an option, however part time it may be.

The track under lights helps the ball come on. There were a few good balls and a lot of edges initially and balls just over the fielder's head etc. But once they got their eyes in against each of our bowlers, it was carnage. And that is expected in the Mumbai track. Our batting was the real culprit. But it is sad how toothless the bowling was, when the batting fails us on a good track.

We don't really know how good Aus is tbh. What won the game yesterday is exactly the same thing that has suddenly started winning Aus ODI games for the past year now: namely the bowling attack restricting oppositions to subpar, "old school" totals which are eminently manageable without going hell for leather which has never been an Aus ODI strength historically, and a top order in red hot form. Which means the things that failed - namely the backup bowlers and middle/lower order - remains untested.

Didn't watch our bowling at all, did we bowl that poorly?
They weren't great but they were far from the biggest problem tbh. Warner and Finch are in incredible ODI form right now and 250 was never going to be a defendable total with Bumrah not at his best.

Created a few chances which didn't go to hand tbf.

Warner looked terrible early, then that Thakur bloke played him into form. Bumrah wasn't at his best, understandably. He also wasn't bowling to Marcus Harris and the pillow, which helped Australia's cause no end.

Yeah, I think both sides have the same weaknesses tbh. I won't put it past the Indian bowling line up to restrict Aus like they did us in the next game and then our top order to walk the total in much the same way yours did. The selections for this series have made it completely pointless. With the exception of Labuschagne, and maybe Agar in ODIs, there is no new name being added here in a series which seems ready made for some experimentation.

A lot depends on whether Carey's WC form is him "breaking out" or whether it was just a purple patch. His BBL form suggests the former, but until we see him do it at 5 obviously can't say definitively either way. If he does, though, then suddenly yeah that's a strong looking batting lineup given that the entire gameplan of this ODI team is not to be trying to win 350 vs 350 style games.

Yeah, England and maybe NZ are really the gold standard LO teams at the moment for me. Both these sides are at the level below them. Kinda cool coz that works out to who were the WC finalists and who were the semifinalists. Guess that format was fair enough, even though it cost the associates.

Those "old school totals" are what happens when sides play their best bowling attacks instead of the under 16s 3rd XI bowlers that we saw for the last 5 years (world cup excluded).

I mean look how big of an impact taking a single top order wicket early on has on a total. Rohit could easily have gone on to score 150 if it was Coulter-Nile and Behrendorff instead of Starc and Cummins.

Last night's match followed the same formula that world cup games followed - the openers were disproportionately important to the team total. When they fell early, big totals were very hard.

The WC was really so different to these JAMODIs. Proper fast bowling on display, spinners being useless, cakey batsmen dominating, relatively low totals etc. Loved it.

Why is it embarrassing? Australian ODI team has always played well in IND . Even when AUS lost test series in INDIA in 98, 01, 08 they won the ODI series of that tour or next year.
I mean is this more embarrassing than AUS losing 3 test series in a row at home to SA ?
