I think he has made correction.Only 8 5’fers in Hadlee’s 33 test peak? That doesn’t sound right..

I always felt like Kirsten was at the same level as Langer. Excellent cricketer, I actually really enjoyed watching his role in ODIs too.Where does Gary Kirsten rank among openers in the last 30 years?
Corrected it. It is 18.

That would seem to go against CW's generally accepted standard that Rhodes never excelled in both major disciplines at the same time. The thing is, doing all that work in the inter-war period aged 41 to 53 is frankly phenomenal. Should be remembered as legendary. Rhodes is up with the likes of Hobbs and Grimmett in achievements after the age of 40.The extraordinary nature of his transition from bowler to batsman and then -- while not losing his batting -- back to bowler again
Wish CricketArchive didn’t have a paywall so I could see his county stats over the years. His raw first class stats are still ridiculous. Almost 31000 overs bowled. Ridiculous.Nice article on Wilfred Rhodes: Wisden - Wilfred Rhodes
He must have been an amazing player. Going at less than 20 with the ball in his final season is pretty impressive by itself but when you consider that it was in a good era for batting with Rhodes 53 years old, it becomes even more so. And that is backed up by him batting at an average of 23.
In the fourth paragraph in the article Wisden asserts:

Definitely deserves my avatar.
It was not. However, now that I look at it, I feel he should be at the top of that list.Is this a ranked list? I feel like Smith is overrated by some posters on this site (mostly Indian FTR).
I'd almost put Cook at the top or 2nd. England is not an easy place to open. Smith did it bloody well though, I'll never forget watching his 277 and 254 as a kidIt was not. However, now that I look at it, I feel he should be at the top of that list.
Smith
