*Official* New Zealand in Australia 2019/20

This will be one of Australia’s better home wins in a while imo. Got solid opponents who bat deep, our two best players didn’t pass 50 and we lost a bowler in the fourth over of the first dig. Been a big effort.
NZ have been better than the scoreboard suggests too, at least with the ball.

Well this is unravelling quickly after a glimmer of resistance . Australia'll rightly feel proud of this with a bowler down, even if NZ have been rubbish.

Santner has been brought back to earth comprehensively with this game.

Wrt NZ batting this obviously has not been good enough but it's worth noting that it's been quite a while since this attack has conceded a significant total at all (and even then it took a worldie of an innings to do it). Not much shame in getting shot out for a sub-par but not disgraceful total on this surface against this attack, even if it's undermanned.

Yeah agreed, the sudden difference in conditions and in intensity of opposition bowling are possibly mitigating factors for NZ, but you'd expect better. Starc and Cummins have been exceptionally good nevertheless.

Great performance by Australia, especially when one of their frontline bowlers was missing virtually all match.

Like I said earlier, NZ will probably have pitches at MCG & SCG that suit them more but their batting just isn't up to it with Starc and Cummins in form. If Hazlewood had been fit probably would've been lucky to make 100 in one of their innings.

Unless Oz have a couple of horror innings with the bat, can't see Australia not clean-sweeping this series.

That ended a bit sooner than I expected. NZ's batting was just nowhere near good enough on this pitch, and the lack of a proper spin bowler hurt them too.

Yeah pretty meek display with the bat given Australia were one bowler down for virtually the whole match from New Zealand. OTOH, I thought they bowled fairly well.

Pretty great display from Australia here anyway. Only really tanked on Night 3 and I think a lot of that was down to the short ball being difficult to pick up at night.
