I think they would have already picked 12 out of 15 players given we have had series' vs the Aussies and the Bangladesh. 2 or 3 likely will be newbies IMO.
Yes I'll try to lay it all out now, seeing this squad will probably be put out hot on the heels of the tourney's conclusion. I'll do the batting and wicket-keeping today.
Batting locks:
Lellman (ton vs. Bangladesh, NZ U19 ave 89.7)
Zohrab (ton vs. Bangladesh, having success with his part-time off-cutters)
Mariu (ton vs. Australia)
White
Tashkoff
Capped, not certainties:
Pomare † (NZ U19 record: 93 @ 18.6, current domestic tourney before today: 86 @ 28.7, SR: 100) - better player to the eye than his early stats suggest. Good numbers in U17 tourneys.
Sunde † (NZ U19 record: 55 @ 27.5, current domestic tourney before today: 119 @ 119, SR: 102)
Frew (NZ U19 record: 10 @ 3.3, Gillette Cup 234 @ 58.5, SR: 87)
Clark (NZ U19 record: 132 @ 18.9, current domestic tourney before today: 226 @ 56.5, SR: 88)
Ansell (NZ U19 record: 44 @ 22, current domestic tourney before today: 156 @ 39, SR: 80) - top runscorer in back-to-back U17 tourneys, five tons overall in his U17/U19 tourneys.
McKenzie (NZ U19 record: 96 @ 16, current domestic tourney before today: 64 @ 16, SR: 70)
Vishvaka (NZ U19 record: 28 @ 9.3, current domestic tourney before today: 179 @ 45, SR: 75)
Love † (NZ U19 record: 8 @ 4) - seemingly lost to the Wellington Lions and rugby.
Taylor (NZ U19 record: 8 @ 2.7) - playing for his Grafton club team this month, not Auckland U19.
Uncapped, making a late run:
Boyle (current domestic tourney before today: 192 @ 64, SR: 104) - about to turn 17, brother has started scoring good List A runs for Canterbury.
Raxworthy (current domestic tourney before today: 235 @ 58.8, SR: 91) - Only just out of 1st XI cricket or may have a year of school remaining. In a bit of hot form opening with Zohrab and Greg Hay for Nelson, as well as hot form here. Many of his drives are sort of dicey and aerial.
Robinson (current domestic tourney before today: 164 @ 54.7, SR: 83) - 17, but too old to make the 2022 NZ U19s. Good record in his two U17 tourneys (one big ton of 142*), good record for Wellington College. Probably rues batting slightly too low down for most of his outings so far with Wgtn U19.
Jacobs (current domestic tourney before today: 174 @ 43.5, SR: 94) - did very little in the U17 tourney last year, but would probably relish a tour of South Africa, with a name like Bevon-John. Beefy build.
Keene (current domestic tourney before today: 214 @ 53.5, SR: 103) - formerly a lower-order agribusinessman. Still bowling plenty of his medium pace.
Jackson (current domestic tourney before today: 210 @ 52.5, SR: 92) - did very little in two U17 tourneys.
Wheeler-Greenall (current domestic tourney before today: 196 @ 49, SR: 104) - 17 but too old for the 2022 NZ U19s. Attended the U17 tourney three times, one ton. Very dominant bottom hand.
