Jeetan goes and fair enough. He's had good number of years and nothing more left for him to achieve at NZ Domestic level. Besides he's now got a very good gig with the England cricket team. Must be on a good pay.

Time for Wellington to find that next spinner, they already have Nofal and Ravindra but would be interested to see who takes Jeet's contract.

As well as Under 19 international Akash Gill staying in Whanganui over the winter, Ontario teenager Akhil Kumar has returned for his second season, and joining him is Harkaran Mann.

"So we've got two overseas players because Akash is now a local player," said manager Andrew Lock.

A shame that this under 19 tournament seems to have coincided with Gillette Cup. Presumably, Mariu and Frew would have featured in the Canterbury Under 19's. Also, maybe Craig Cumming's son who is playing for Otago BHS?

BTW the match reports on NZC says Josh Clarkson was hit in the head by Ben Sears and retired hurt but then the scorecard shows he was claimed by Ravindra? What's going on here?

No this was just an injury break. Clarkson joins a growing list who've needed one with that sky-high release of Sears. Getting right up into the gloves and under the rim.

Last night on radio sport Ken Rutherford was interviewed and specifically to talk about the opening slot of Jeet Raval. It was a fairly uncomfortable interview by all accounts with Ken Rutherford first taking about short comings of Jeet Raval, then on to selection policies and then to Hamish Rutherford.

Ken isn't the best person to be interviewed when his son is likely in line for selection if Jeet doesn't go well in Australia.

Lots of fringe players and past Firebirds such as Michael Pollard, Matt Taylor etc. Should head down and watch couple of games. Shame it's on a weekday.

Eventually the U19s tournaments descend into a Left-arm orthodox and dibbly-dobbly fest as the youngsters and the pitches become warnout by the consecutive cricket.

But from the first two days, before they fade away behind the above mentioned, these are the quick bowlers I've like the look of so far. Either got pace. high actions, energy through the crease or combinations of the above. So, may have benefited in my eyes by bowling towards the camera ...

Apart from Kumar, who is Canadian apparently.

Some very good quality batting by O White, the son of David White CEO of NZ Cricket. Looks like a high quality and aggressive batsman. He hasn't scored many runs but I believe he's one for the future if he can keep his interest and play the way he is at the moment. Hoping he's not looking at short term gains and works on long term improvement.
