Australian test selection 2019-2020

the big bambino

Cricketer Of The Year
Remembering the mid 1980's when Australia chopped and changed batsmen at will when they had a bad game. Then they realised all this fear of being dropped was the biggest problem and decided to stick with players regardless - David Boon and Steve Waugh were two such players to have security of position and Border then established the basis for a decade of domination by Australia.

Fast forward to 2019 and all this 'bat-off' crap in the game before the Ashes and now this one vs Pak and we wonder why our batsmen are failing or having mental health issues. The pressure on one innings must be enormous for these batsmen.
Only themselves to blame. the selectors have no real guide from our batter’s fc stats to pick them which means the selections are still open right up to the test. It’s the batsmen’s fault they find themselves in bat offs.

Only as good as your last ball they say.

Will Siddle getting qld star opener (who recently made a 300) be enough to retain his spot in the Aussie XI?

Also, the Gabba suits Peter, I dont believe there has ever been a better hattrick there.

Good on Neser for getting match figures of 35-68-4 in the tour game.

Honestly its gotten to the point where I wouldnt even think it was a bad decision if Neser was in our 12 for the Gabba.

My men on the ground in inner-Jolimont are whipering into my shell-like that Burns and Head are both in

Neser and Pattinson will also be named in the squad but are not expected to make the Gabba XI

I always thought it was funny that after being persisted with through years of mediocrity after his breakthrough 1989(3 tons in that year after 0 from '85-'88) Waugh then got dropped in 1990 anyway for his brother

Pick and stick philosophy is a fickle beast

Reports are that Harris approached Pucovski with high fives and a congratulatory handshake suggesting he was in the test squad. Then Pucovski had a long chat with Langer.

Sounds like Bancroft is very lucky twice in one week, first Maddinson and now Pucovski withdrawing to give him a shot.
