South Africa team selection

What I would do for some Markram runs. Like Smith/Gibbs he just scores naturally fast as a test opener. It hurts opposition.

I've always thought Elgar and Faf can switch it on for test level with their experience but I do worry about that even now.

So it makes Markram and QdK the guys who have scored test match hundreds who are in their prime at the moment.

Wonder what the thought processes are.

Is it a reflection on Eddie Moore or is it because they wanted to give Malan another chance ?

Zondo for SA A

11 games
18 innings
1 fifty
251 runs
14.76 average
I`m totally over Zonda... always felt he had some ability and from a quota point of view was acceptable for domestic and maybe A levels. But I would rather they start picking youngsters with ability now and hope for the best.

Came across this article recently and it just shows what a mess the system is from every which way and how it does not help anybody.

I really hope that some quality black batsmen come through and we can drop this quota system. Hopefully going back to provincial well help.

Ashwell Prince is a big advocator for not looking for excuses and making the most of what you got. It definitely starts from when they younger they don't have a father to show them how to bat. I think that is where the basics are learnt in the back yard. So if that problem can be over come (next gen black fathers) even if you are poor or disadvantaged you can lay your claim. I think what I gathered from Qeshile was his "white" father taught him the basics and he had the natural talent to kick on.

These things happen in India too. Talk of the disadvantaged and the poor having to work harder to be recognised. It is an issue world wide.

But no doubt moving forward I hope Qeshile will be picked for the A team. Him along with Breetzke, Van Tonder & Mulder are our most important for test cricket for me if we really want to be the worlds best again.

How much better if we could have played Qeshile and Hamza in place of Zondo and Klaasen. Succeed or fail at least they get to learn.

Exactly my thinking.

Just say Elgar or Markram falls ill in India or injured on morning of first test v England. We have no idea who will open and who knows how Moore could have grabbed his chance in this game.

But I think moving forward they surely have to learn. Small things but whilst I am big on 100 scoring ability which is something Verreynne needs but as a keeper what he does is brilliant with regular 50s and his success on 4th innings chases is quite good for a young guy. He should be the first replacement to Second in 4-day and test cricket moving forward.

Re : Hamza. I know there is quotas but how are we helping ourselves. We want to build a cricketing culture together and be successful. How is what they have done preparing Hamza as a cricketer for our test future. He could even being lining up in the test team in a few days. Zondo surely had to sit out and you miss the quota by 1. That is obvious.
