Vihari's patience has been the most remarkable thing about this innings. Plenty of moments in the match where a lesser batsman would have lost his head.

I've got so much respect for tailenders like him, the ones who aren't really good enough to score many runs but will go out there and use every ounce of their ability to hang around and build a partnership. Hoggard used to do a similar thing for us on occassion and Gillespie was really quite good at it indeed, even before his double century

A lot of actual batsmen could learn a thing or two about application from guys like Ishant tbf

Indeed, it's also why it just feels really nice when it occasionally comes together for these guys and they manage to get some runs too.

Jimmy Anderson has a Test 50. His stats might be slightly better but when you watch Ishant he seems to have a reasonably solid defensive technique which is more than can be said for Anderson.
