It does, his use comes from his tendency to just stay there and not throw his wicket away, not from scoring runs, today's innings is a bit of an aberration.
Hmm idk, I reckon he has it in him (at least now if not in the past) to be a 14-15 averaging tailender

I've got so much respect for tailenders like him, the ones who aren't really good enough to score many runs but will go out there and use every ounce of their ability to hang around and build a partnership. Hoggard used to do a similar thing for us on occassion and Gillespie was really quite good at it indeed, even before his double century
A lot of actual batsmen could learn a thing or two about application from guys like Ishant tbf
