I'm assuming you were asleep/in a cave during the 2013/14 southern hemisphere summer then?Bumrah is just a monster bowler now. Dare I say it, but it's not since I watched a young Dale Steyn blow NZ's batting apart in 2007 that I have seen a fast bowler look so totally dominant in a series.
12 for 78. Average of 6.517.1/6/23/11
Bumrah in last 2 innings vs WI
But over all 11 for 78 in the series
Very similar Test records and statistics for both of them.At this very point, Bumrah and Abbas (2 sub 20 averaging bowlers of this era) average the same 18.86.
There was a fight going on in PakPassion a while back regarding who is the better bowler. And they were all referring to Abbas's sub 20 average. Bumrah has joined him now. Will be interesting to see how their careers progress.Very similar Test records and statistics for both of them.
The slips are the most crucial fielding positions in tests and it’s a lot more important for a slip fielder to hold on to regulation catches than to get the occasional spectacular one IMO. Laxman and Sehwag were far, far better slip fielders despite not being great out fielders. It's ridiculous how many slip catches Kohli alone drops. Though I'm not sure we've got better options, and he does take some really good ones as well.
He slipped under the radar a bit recently because he didn't do well when they picked him in white-ball cricket and also because exclusive Test players have long gaps in their schedule. He made Australia look like mugs in the UAE, he could be the bowler that Mohammad Asif threatened to become. There was a fight going on in PakPassion a while back regarding who is the better bowler. Abbas had a quite period in SA but was devastating in Eng/Ireland. Do feel he is under-rated.
TBH I want to be furious at our batting lineup (because after all they are awful) but apart from Holder's silly shot off a slow losener, I can't really blame them. He would have taken bucket-loads against any lineup bowling like that in those conditions with our version of the Dukes ball.Yeah, looks like Bumrah has made the transition from precocious to lethal wicket taker that all ATGs make at a certain stage. Still only the Windies but I can see him picking bagfuls from here on out against most teams.
I think there was a fair bit of hype, but it just sort of died after his meh tour of SA and the lack of Tests since. He slipped under the radar a bit recently because he didn't do well when they picked him in white-ball cricket and also because exclusive Test players have long gaps in their schedule. Roach was pretty unlucky too, but yeah Holder is a terrific cricketer. Very disappointing shot to get out though, he usually lets his teammates get out in rubbish ways instead of joining in.Incidentally, I don't want Jason Holder's performance with the ball to go unnoted in amongst all the Jasprit gushing we're quite rightly doing.
He just got his 3rd 5 wicket haul in 3 innings at Sabina park and his second in 4 innings against this string Indian batting lineup.
What a brilliant performer he is.
Yeah that was not his finest moment. I think he was just shocked at Jasprit bowling his first short wide longhop of the seriesRoach was pretty unlucky too, but yeah Holder is a terrific cricketer.
