3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

Im really not liking the lack of right handed batsman. It feels like Broad especially is just in complete control against the lefties. That Trav Head delivery was a thing of beauty against a batsman on 0. I think it was the best ball ive seen from Broad. Cant me far off the mark.

FWIW I don't think 180 is that short of an okay score under the conditions. Basically the rule I use is whether you'd be able to defend the same score in the fourth innings. I'd want about 100 more, ideally, but that's about it.

Blazing sunshine forecast for Headingly today.
Won't matter. 60+% humidity around - Australia will still have a first innings lead. Be batting again by tea, about 130 odd in front by stumps with eight in hand.

I said in the last match that Archer would run through a team when he pitched it up and got the movement rather than bowling short. I hate being proven right so quickly.

Wasn't Broad's ball to Head an abolsute cracker though? And Marnus' dismissal possibly the funniest lbw I've ever seen.
You can say the same that two dozen deliveries that Warner and Co. played and missed at..

I have only watched the highlights but while I thought it was a good 'un, I honestly didn't think it did a great deal. Will have another look at it.

Looking forward to tonight. Who gets the new ball for us, I wonder? They'd be queueing up to have a crack at this outfit.

Speaking of Siddle, we missed his grit at the crease. Probably guides young Marnus to a ton while making the third highest score.

Its important that they don't try to blast their way here. Just needs to put it in the right areas, make them play and most importantly bowl full.

That'll be the plan. Would take a bit of a turn around for them not to be disciplined with the ball. They have been pretty good most of the series.

Missed all the excitement last night, when I walked the dogs. Only 5 wickets down. Didn’t think much would happen in the last hour. Headingly eh... surprisingly interesting :D

Yeah they’ve pretty much been on the money for the whole of the two Tests. England did get on top of the bowling second dig at Lords but only on the fifth day after it became clear Australia probably couldn’t win.

I got no idea what the forecast is but as I'm sure you know overheads are everything in Eng. If it's the same as yesterday then yeah your prediction could well be on the money.........If it is blazing sunshine then it's a whole different ball game. Eng 7 down at stumps with 130 lead, Root ton and Stokes 80no.

Blazing sunshine in Yorkshire though........Who the **** am I kidding.

Yeah but m8, they literally cannot bat either. Whether there's a thunderstorm or it's 42 in the shade in Perth. I can understand England supporters being bullish about their bowling because it's very good at home, but they had the better of the batting conditions in the first test and did nothing with them. Same with the second (save day five when Stokes slogged a few and Buttler apparently made a career-defining 30 - whoopee).

The thing is, these two line ups are as woeful as each other. Do you reckon it'll bother Cummins if there's no cloud? Or Haze, Patto and Lyon? That attack will need to bowl backwards by their standards for England to get anything beyond parity at best. Not because the ball will go sideways, but because both teams literally can't play straight breaks, let alone anything the quality their own bowlers dish up.

Look we both know these are 2 **** batting lineups (save for Smith) V' s 2 very very good bowling sides. If the sun was shining on Headingley yesterday.......no way are the Aussies getting rolled for 170. All those plays and misses from Warner are sailing through the covers.

I've got little faith in our batting lineup but if the sun's shining this wickets doing **** all and we'll get a lead.

This.

Look up not down at Headingley. No real cloud or just blue sky then it usually becomes as flat as anything around. Aussies could bowl us out for 275 today if it a muddling day then get 400+ tomorrow and Sunday in the sun. Just never know what will happen at Leeds.
