Steve Smith “should have stayed off for his own safety and gone to hospital for a scan,” Derek Wyatt from Brain Campaign Charity said yesterday. Now he's out of the game with delayed concussion. Terrible to think what an impact of second concussion could have been
He should have gone off when he got hit on the elbow. Being brave and taking on your opponent is massively overrated.

this doesn't strike me as particularly useful input from ole derek wyatt.

Because concussion symptoms are more difficult to spot and easier to rationalise away (and, as we've seen, often delayed) which could lead to understandable reluctance for a side to give themselves a huge disadvantage if they aren't entirely sure. Which puts a batsman in a situation which is, not to put too fine a point on it, potentially fatal.
Yeh this makes sense.

England looking like the more likely side to win at this point, though o/c I can see it getting to a point where Australia shut it down if it starts to look like England dominate.

it's almost as if when you're given seven wicket taking opportunities, you should actually take them

Declaration, though. Not sure 50 overs will be enough but Australia not having Smith makes it more likely.
We should only declare if the game becomes well and truly, indisputably safe imo. Happy for us to have a bit of crack at them in the wild hope of a repeat of that Sri Lanka test in 2011, but nothing more - I don't care how much of a step down Smith to Labuschagne is on paper
