But fwiw I'm not buying into the entire alpha/beta thing, especially in gym culture, where it's a ****. But test cricketers are by very definition, alphas, psychologically and physically, in that social hierarchy. They've risen thru the hierarchy of cricket to get to the top position. They have the skill, toughness, drive and desire to do so. That is my point. Smith isn't a beta, in a cricketing context. He is alpha. Ponting was an alpha. Pretty much every test cricketer has to be, to get there, and by definition if they do get there, they are.
