It is actually not that bad a comparison if we only look at batting. Ranatunga was a good batsman as well and Stokes is not that great a batsman that he cannot be compared to Ranatunga. Pointless though discussing this.

Might as well make a serious post in this Chapman thread.

Make or break season for Chapman imo - shown up by both proper pace short at the body and by spin bowling in his brief NZ appearances. He's young so can come back, but will require a lot of work - hopefully he's at least shortening his grip and backlift against the proper quicks, realising that he isn't Brian Lara and just can't get away with what he was doing before.

Has started the season scoring 7, dismissed by Tickner bowling short of a length and reasonably quick.

Hope he comes through.

He'd definitely be welcomed back if he decided to play for us again. I think ICC guidelines would require him to spend some time playing in HK domestic cricket tho, and that's probably a no go for him.
