Smith is such a good example of why the alpha/beta thing is bs. Nothing more alpha than being completely unfazed by having your back against the wall but no one wants to have a beer with him or drop to their knees every time he pulls a 90 mph bouncer for 6 like with Viv.

The normal awards that everyone else has
Redhill sounds like a real beta

jedibrah defs just having a lend, but if red hill believes what he's saying then dude lacks a bit downstairs.
It couldn't matter less to me what you think of me.

But fwiw I'm not buying into the entire alpha/beta thing, especially in gym culture, where it's a ****. But test cricketers are by very definition, alphas, psychologically and physically, in that social hierarchy. They've risen thru the hierarchy of cricket to get to the top position. They have the skill, toughness, drive and desire to do so. That is my point. Smith isn't a beta, in a cricketing context. He is alpha. Ponting was an alpha. Pretty much every test cricketer has to be, to get there, and by definition if they do get there, they are.

International Regular
Redhill having a midlife crisis. Its only a game champ, don't take it this seriously
True, a super alpha would be someone who knows he's bad at tests but will retire with terrible stats and lead a normal life without getting anxious about his cricket report card.
