2nd Test, Lord's, London

Root was literally our only player who we could back to get us 50 in every innings. But now we have even taken that away by batting him 3 and prioritised Denly to bat at 4. Denly cieling is basically 30 and out

Watching the bits I could find, Archer was getting really exaggerated seam movement at points in his little spell. Yeah, I'm a bit concerned about our batting against him.

Archer bowled too wide of off stump Bancroft was able to leave 4 balls an over. When he did have to play he mainly played and missed

Despite having been totally outplayed yesterday, I think England will get a first innings lead. If you looked at those skies on day one you’d be bowling at the toss and expecting sub-200.

Not convinced that Warner will last long in tests

Seen him bat quite a bit since the ban and he’s looked pretty rubbish except for when he bats on a road

The worrying thing about Warner is that his defence seems completely suspect; it's not like he's going around trying to thrash outside off stump and getting caught in the slips.

Counterpoint - Australia will lead by 150 on the first dig, even if thats at some point late day four or early day five because of the weather. Then england will be scrapping hard to try to survive

He's the hero that England needs, but definitely not the one they deserve.
Tbf the hero they need is definitely a batsman.

I get that there's a danger of expecting too much too soon. But "that guy with the slick-as-**** action seaming it both ways at 93mph is bad because muh ODIs reserve game second division wickets" is a pure galaxy brain take.

Wish i can be this confident.

Selfishly I kind of hope that it rains rather than stays cloudy, as I can just see England destroying if today is cloudy. More reason we should've batted first as there's a good chance we'd be 4/300 or something and in a great position rather than being at risk of being blown out for 150.

Still can't get over Australia choosing to bowl in sunshine knowing they'd be batting in cloud today...well that's what my weather app told me anyway

I think you're straw manning there. No-one is saying he's bad (although it would be nice from an Australian perspective if he was just for this series), but if you listened to the media he's Curtley Ambrose reincarnated. And I mentioned Div 2 wickets because people are writing off Jhye Richardson already when he has a similar average in a distinctly harder competition.

Although speaking of Ambrose he has the the exaggerated seam movement thing down pat.
