Good day for our blokes. Well ahead at this point given it’s a shortened game.

Lyon is really tearing it up on these dry decks so far. Bowling beautifully.

And I know its been said before, but how good is Archer’s action? A thing of languid beauty

He got 50s in every test of the 2015 Ashes and had a good World Cup. The ban was irrelevant in expectations for his series.

This round the wicket stuff feels a bit Gilchrist in 2005 though. Not sure how many bowlers have really targeted him with this before.
Having problems largely because he’s falling over and off balance, but all his movement is across the crease instead of back or forward. Really feeling for the ball atm.

I thought Lyon wasnt as good as usual, probably due to the lack of maidens if anything. England were certainly more run contious compared to the first test.

At the time i thought it was curious that Warner skipped the tour match, i think it even more now.

Stupid bloody English tail. Can't they get bowled out decently like a normal team?
Well, ours did the same first test so you can't really complain. Bairstow is a genuine batsman and Woakes a decent allrounder by any measure (let's be honest, he should be batting three).

They haven't got enough to win this test unless Australia collapse for <150 (possible but I think unlikely on this deck). Best they can hope for from here is a draw unless they all but run through us first session tonight. They don't have enough runs given the time left in the game to force a result unless Australia capitulates which, tbf, is not exactly a rare occurrence. But as things stand right now, an England win is the second-least likely of the four results.

The people who think batsmen always know whether they've hit the ball are the same people who put Dennis Lillee in their all time XIs. We value their opinions too much.
Probably the same sort of people who made you a moderator.

When did Archer suddenly turn into Rabada?

The amount of fellatio from the English comm box for him is ridiculous, you'd think he was Curtley Ambrose.

He's a decent young prospect but no different to a Jhye Richardson.

I don't think he is going to pose much of an issue for Smith this series.

Lol is Richardson really that good? Seems to be hyped up so much but he looks decent nothing more.

It's been a while since we've had a guy who can swing the ball both ways with any ease.

He does have a better first class average than Archer, and not achieved with CC Div 2 wickets and batsmen either.

Lost in all the noise around sandpapergate is the fact that Australia bounced England into oblivion in the last Ashes

They are going to need to find a way to combat the short ball pronto

As stated above, he has a better FC record than Archer and that's playing in the SS on dry Australian roads in lieu of 2nd division CC.

Their ODI records aren't poles apart either, especially as that side of the game favours Archer.

Richardson swings the ball both ways and is more akin to Anderson than anyone Australia has produced in a while.

The way everyone in the commentary box was talking before he'd bowled a ball, you'd be mistaken for thinking Archer was the #1 test bowler in the world in the match, not Cummins.

I wonder how many of those 29 deliveries Warner was in control. Of course nicked the first ball too where they didnt Ppeal.
