Hope someone gave one side of the ball a good scrape on the concrete after they picked it up

It must be said these look like the perfect conditions for England to bully bowlers. No swing, no movement, and comes off the blade beautifully.

England play these sort of conditions better than any teams in the world when batting first, with only India anywhere close.

Australia & India come into play more when conditions are a bit more even between bat & ball.

TBH apart from Southee other bowling figures haven't been terrible in the first powerplay.

Tbf to us it's only Southee that's gone at overs 6s so far. But we also had to use more Boult overs than desired.

Henry's been tighter than Southee at least. Is bowling straighter to a leg side field, pretty negative stuff but we need to dry it up for a while.

Fair, but at least he's hitting a decent length and averaging over 130 kmh. Seriously reckon CdG is close to being a better ODI option than Southee now.
Yes well the continued selection of both Southee and Munro isn’t nothing short of incompetence.

Was a good ruse to get a new ball until Latham found it.
What NZ match was it ages ago where they lost the ball, the umpire got a new one and rubbed it on the concrete to scratch it up like the previous one had been, and it started swinging round corners after that and we rolled the opposition?

Needed that to happen haha.

Let's say England do score 350+, how do New Zealand go about the chase? Set their sights on keeping the margin of defeat to under 100, or go for the win? Both routes have risks.

This win toss, bat first template is kind of getting old. Need a successful chase or two to mix things up. Not today, though.
