Because the other option was bowling de Grandhomme as 1st change, and picking Sodhi. And Kane has no faith in Sodhi.

But why Santner then Southee are bowling ahead of Henry (8 wickets in 6 games) is a mystery to me.

Fair, but at least he's hitting a decent length and averaging over 130 kmh. Seriously reckon CdG is close to being a better ODI option than Southee now.
