Plus plenty of missed chances in the field.Australia have been good, but NZ have played their part in letting this turn into a complete blowout by showing a real lack of #intent with the bat.
This is a common occurrence and I really have never been able to understand this. Kiwis always display steel and grit except for when its Aus. Why?dropping in to give my thoughts before going to bed.
nz lost the game during the usman/carey partnership. disappointingly typical to do the hard work and let the under pressure players like khawaja scoot through to a match winning contribution. in particular the spinners let nz down. sodhi is a trash bowler so it's not his fault but santa shouldn't be getting outbowled by kane. the 5th bowlers were excellent so we had strike bowling overs in hand to go for the kill. we know australia are ****roaches who don't die, you don't stop stabbing until they're dead. nz stopped stabbing.
batting wise nz began intelligently but then played like a team who are overcompensating for the 2015 final. i don't blame lord colin that much, everyone knows he's the worlds dumbest batsman and he was elevated above neesh with one job.
i do blame kane and ross who did the hard work then gave it away for free. the mental block in action again.
finchs use of the 5th bowler has been excellent. he's forward stacked his weak overs and rotated the 5th bowler to prevent nz getting in against one. he has used his attack perfectly and lyon's overs have really turned the screws and outplayed his kiwi opposites.
Mentally fried, and I've never really understood why. Just something in our cricketing psyche that tells us we're not good enough to compete with Australia. This is a common occurrence and I really have never been able to understand this. Kiwis always display steel and grit except for when its Aus. Why?
Sodhi added nothing, I think it was definitely a mistake.Yes, sounds like NZ let Australia off the hook not bringing Boult on when they were 5 down. Should they have stuck with Henry too?
I think the idea was to start cautiously, take the game deep and let the hitters do their thing. The top 4 basically dug themselves into a hole and KW and Taylor tossed it away when set. Was bound to happen though, they've been carrying the batting for a while. This is a very tepid performance by the Kiwis considering this game was huge! Win and youre in!
