Yeah and that's all fair. My point was that in ten years time we'll get people who simply compare numbers and think one player is way better than another based on their playing in an easier era for batting.

Like, I would say that Greenidge was a better batsman than Hayden in ODIs, despite Hayden having a better strike rate. Borges argument is that we'll start to consider Roy to be better than players like Hayden/Greenidge based purely on his numbers, despite them not being comparable due to playing conditions.
This kind of thing will only happen with people who are ignorant of the history of the game and don't need to be taken seriously.

Thought 400 was on for much of the innings, but 386 is obviously a massive total. England's highest at WC level?

EDIT: By miles. Their next highest was 338.

Some great striking from Woakesy and Plunkers. Reckon the new ball will do a little bit more than the BD bowlers made it look like, it is still a belter though so i expect them to get north of 300.

I'm going to bed now, but if Bangladesh chase those down I'm going to watch the second innings tomorrow with glee. However, I think that's a practical impossibility. Those last 3 overs were just insane.

Yeah, by some distance.

It's probably been discussed already, but Rashid's lucky to be retained as the sole spinner after Moeen completely outperformed him last time out. I know Moeen's batting was horrible against Pakistan, but if we're happy with Woakes and Plunkett at 7 & 8, Moeen could simply have batted at 9.

Yeah I agree that is idiotic thing to do. Comparing them to their peers is best bet as I believe a great player would be great in any era although that still doesn't give you full picture it is safest.
