The case for the mankad, in two photos:

I don't know why but I get an immense amount of satisfaction whenever a batsman is Mankaded. Consequently lot of satisfaction when a batsman shows he cares about not getting Mankaded like in this picture.

I mean I would have thought the best solution for batsmen would be to take your starting position further back, so you have more forward momentum when the bowler releases the ball but you're still in the crease

Sure but bowlers are shifty ****s and will probably slow their run ups deliberately to mankad you/make you stop your momentum anyway

I mean what you describe is exactly what Joss Buttler was doing when was dismissed so . . .

In his defence though Pandey looked gassed. Will be a tough chase for sure
