Actually ridiculous though. Would that have been some kind of record if Dhoni had got there? 26 off the final over?

Made Carlos Braithwaite's task in the WC final look easy by comparison.

Funny that when Umesh finally tried a change of pace he actually got a result that wasn't a boundary and yeah clutch throw from Patel. But man Umesh was choking hard. Good thing ABDV had a brief chat to him before the final ball
2 off 1 is Dhoni kryptonite. Happened before vs Windies as well in a 240 vs 240 t20 on a similar slower ball too if I recall right.

Eminently deserved to lose, if you ask me. Very deliberately taking it so deep, relying only on a bowler going to pieces in the end.

It honestly felt like Umesh was so tilted he was just gonna rush in and bowl another stock delivery before ABDV pulled him aside. They didn't even bring the field up? There was no point having boundary riders with 2 to defend right? Or were they willing to concede a tie(and only if Dhoni hit one too hard to a boundary fielder, he could have easily nudged one down the ground for a 2) and try their luck in the super over. I think Kohli was in shock and just thought **** this.

With that field they would have been super lucky to get away with the tie let alone the actual win they got. Two crazy 180 degree momentum shifts in the same over.

Edit - I think if Dhoni needed 4 or 6 off the last ball it would have been better for him. He overthought the situation and went for a little dab shot

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, but it was strange seeing Dhoni not letting Bravo have the strike in the penultimate over, a guy who batted the majority of his test career at 6. I guess he's more of a bowler these days and was new to the crease, but still. Bet he regrets not running for at least one of em.

That may be the coolest finish ever.

Any other theories on this? That field was nuts.

Do these teams have a hidden clause that the local players need to get a bat before the foreigners? Ridiculous how they keep making the big guns wait.

This Shakib Al Hasan has been in the playing eleven for just one game so far. Why is he skipping the Bangladesh camp and staying back in India?

Ah! Two of the flop shows are having a good day today: Rahane nearing a century and Smith fifty at a passable strike rate.
However, poor Stokes can't make hay while the sun shines; he continues to flounder.
