Australian test selection 2018/19

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Sayers could be decent in friendly conditions and therefore be ok at test level. Like Anderson.
Just played for Glenelg on Sunday, his first game back from knee issues, took 3-39 in and made 77(!) in a 50 over game. Should be ready for the resumption of the Shield

Cummins needs 6 wickets at Edgebaston to be the fastest Australian player to 100 test wickets in 123 years of test cricket...

Test quality pace bowlers currently in Australia (guys who would conceivably make a test XI and do a decent job if other options were injured or who have played tests and performed reasonably well):

Starc
Cummins
Richardson
Hazlewood
Pattinson
Bird
Tremain
Behrendorff
Coulter-Nile
Siddle

Guys just below/ not sure about:
Boland
Neser
Worrall
Meredith
Sayers
Copeland
Abbott

Anyone else I'm forgetting?
that’s pretty much it; doggett was (rightly or wrongly) in the test squad in the UAE. the one from outside your post who could make a run at it in the next few years is gabe bell i reckon

Yeah it's fast bowlers.
Nah he said Australian player. You either didn’t read what was written or saw things that weren’t.

Edit: would appreciate it if you don’t mis use the context of the word “fastest “ if you should reply

The stat that he quoted was for Australian fast bowlers. Not Australian bowlers.

To me Cummins seems happy bowling first change, just going by what he has said himself. I have seen him be able to generate good outswing on occasion in the past, but his preferred MO seems to be more hitting a length than pitching up as of the last couple of years

I think the top six is almost nailed down for the Ashes

Warner
Burns
Usman
Smith
Head
Patterson

Knowing the selectors though, they're likely to forget about Burns' century and just go on whoever is making runs on the A tour of England

That'd be just diplomatic team speak though. Anyone as good and accurate as Cummins would want the new pill, surely.

I agree, and I think they have now pretty much got the top six right. I find Khawaja incredibly frustrating as a cricketer but his best is pure class (which makes his worst frustrating) and I'm not sold on Head long term, but until Pukovski or someone else is ready, Head is good.

He didn't quote any stat. he made a comment. the comment referred to "Australian player". Not Australian fast bowlers or Australian bowlers.
lol give stephen a break he's not arguing with you or disagreeing with you about anything. He was just clarifying what the initial point was, because it was ambiguously worded.

Don't get why you're being so combative
