To be honest I don't really see the new ball as a "promotion" in ODI cricket. It's just a role.

I'm not sure if I would've done the same thing with this eleven but it doesn't mean Bracewell has been promoted.

I wouldn't necessarily call it a promotion either, but it is seen as a role for somebody who's very effective with the new-ball.

I see it as a role for a bowler whose new ball effectivess to slightly older ball effectiveness ratio is high. Is Bracewell's higher than Ferguson's? Yeah, probably IMO. I don't really have a drama with him opening given the eleven. My drama is with the eleven.
