Bumrah improves things massively.

Assuming Pandya comes back at 7 (which he should) and Bumrah strolls in, we'll have to choose between the following for the remaining 3 spots:

Bhuvi
Shami
Kuldeep
Chahal
Jadeja

Hard to predict which ones will be picked. To me the ChahalDeep combo was gun while it lasted and I hope it gets another go.

Hate to break it to you but Bradman played most of his intl cricket against very strong England teams.
Hate to break it to you but most of runs scored by Tendulkar in WC were against bowling attacks that were very good . I am pretty sure now you will also say that England's attack during Bradman's time had bowlers like Akram, Waqar, Shoaib , Murali etc.

I'm not the one saying Sachin padded his stats. I love SRT.

England's attack during Bradman's day featured players such as Larwood, Bowes, Voce, Verity, Tate & Laker. All of which were very, very good.

I apologise to you for bringing Bradman in this debate . Call it peace. Bradman >> Tendulkar

For what it's worth, I feel that had Sachin played during the same era he would have averaged pretty close to 99 as well. Both him & Braddles are two of the most technically correct batsmen of all time.

Bradman's 99 average wasn't just because of his technique. There have been tons of great technicians who haven't averaged close to that. The man had a mind of steel. Most great batsmen have lapses in concentration at some point or another. Bradman almost never did. That's why he holds all the records for innings per century, doubles and triples. Once he got in he was literally impossible to remove.

I don't think Sachin would average 99 if he played in that era. He'd probably average just as much.

idk who said it but basically i heard once that technique gets you to 30, after that you're on your own. has always struck me as accurate.

Bradman was not special to Aussie crowd because of his average, his attacking game drew crowds to the ground. I read an article by David Frith where he said that in those days nobody knew Bradman's average, there was an aura about him I believe.

When Sachin was hitting sixes to Sharjah stadium rooftop to qualify for finals, I'm pretty sure nobody at the ground knew that his test average was close to 60. Greatness is defined by the aura and not numbers.

It's such a weird thing to think. To think that Sachin would have averaged what Bradman did you'd have to think that:
- Every other batsman in Bradman's time was pretty crap and it was a supernaturally bad era of bowling where Bradman was the only decent player
- Lara, Ponting etc. would probably average 95+ in that era as well

Wait. What?
No. of matches played by Sachin in world cup finals - 2

Percentage of this when compared to the ODI matches played by him - 2/463 *100 = 0.43%.

Percentage of matches played by Lillee in sub continent and WI - 5/70 = 7.14% ( A bigger sample size here).
