you don't get to duck out of this one. even if you did say that you were as fast as the rest of this lot to call for his dropping.
TBF he did deserve to be dropped. Not in a "you're a total spud" way, but in a "find some form" way.

That was some great run fest last night. Great time of the year, watch the Aus v Ind, then hop on to the ODI and by the time that finished the SA v Pak started. Brilliant :-) That time of the year when relationship with a partner takes a beating.

Fairly obvious Guptill's cricket is in tact and glad to see Neesham proving his potential. It's a no brainer he's a better bowler in terms of pace than Corey and CDG. Doesn't swing as much but this isn't test cricket so should be a shoo in but after this knock to expect him to do it all the time is not going to be fair. Corey is a better hitter of the ball and CDG a better timer of the ball but Neesham with his arm in the ODIs/T20s is surely ahead of them both.

Glad to see SL come out guns blazing, boy did they time the ball well. Great to see. In a way NZ Camp will be happier if SL plays good cricket otherwise so close to the world cup they will not have a chance to be tested.

Maybe it was just me but I thought Sodhi bowled mainly trash last night.
I thought Sodhi was better than his usual self. Generally he ends up bowling lots of four balls but yesterday he got his toppies and wrong ones working well. He extracted considerable bounce out of the pitch I thought.

At fastest, 138-141. But Boult was 140-143 and Ferguson 145-148 at quickest
I saw one of Neesham's clocked at 143, fastest I've ever seen from him ever. Great signs.

Henry was 132-136, slowest I've seen him bowl. No one swung it yesterday, and bowling at that pace he just got pounded. Shame, he's been mis managed really. Should have played FC and one day cricket for Canterbury at least. I'd still like him to play over Southee for this series, although Southee is the better death bowler. Jamieson on these flat pitches could be worth a gamble, offers a point of difference with his height. Won't happen though.

I was quite surprised to hear Coney implying that one reason for Neesham getting dropped from the Black Caps was his inability to get along with his teammates. Something along the lines of him being "difficult to be around". First I'd heard that he could be a bit of a dickhead. Anyone able to shed any light on this, or was Coney way off the mark?

Seems a lot of people in this forum are thinking that CdG/Neesham/Anderson are all competing for one spot? I'd argue that they are competing for 2. Neesham at 6, CdG at 7.

I'd say the real spot up for grabs is number 5. It should be a direct competition between Latham and Nicholls imo. No room for both of them unless Latham is opening. But I think they've tried that before and decided he was better suited to 5. Which leads me to believe it will be Munro or Seifert to open in the WC.

I think I've seen someone say he was on this forum before but fell out with people and left loool

I'd be tempted to give Latham another shot at opening in ODIs ...he was developing quite well there, I thought, until they gave him the gloves as well. He averages 38 at a strike rate of 82 opening, not awful.
Nooooo, finally we have a no. 5 in Latham who’s proved as effective as Taylor and almost as effective as KW at rotating strike in the middle overs, is superb against spin, even high quality spin and hits to areas few others can hit to (I refer to his sweeping behind square). Seems counterproductive to change that yet again.

I’d persevere with Munro for most of this home summer, unless he’s absolutely hopeless and then if I was replacing him with anyone at the top it’d be Glenn Phillips, who I’ve seen enough of to know he’s one of the most talented stroke players in the country. But don’t mess with Latham at this point.

Just an aside, did the selectors provide a reason for not picking Santa (IMO our best Whiteball bowler) now he’s fit and playing again?

As with my above post, why would we be messing with Latham at 5 and keeper when he’s been a revelation there in the last 18 months?

100% agree. Could Nicholls be an option as an opener instead of Munro? He opens for Canterbury sometimes right?

Fair enough.

I think Santner had only played one match back, or maybe just club cricket, when they named the squad ... so probably wanted to give him more time to get back into it.

Coney is not wrong, I've heard this from lots within NZ. You could do your research but it's a fact Auckland or CD didn't want him anywhere near their domestic sides. Firebirds lapped him up otherwise chances are he could have been without a side to play this summer.

Just watch https://www.facebook.com/Cricinfo/videos/217181225884392/ you'll know what I mean. Although Kane didn't really intend anything still you can see the natural surprise when Jimmy is termed funny.

From what I have heard he's in greatest of spirits when he's going really well but when he's not, he's unbearable in the sheds. Besides from what I have heard he's a know all and can't see beyond his own cricket. Not very conducive for a team environment. Again this is all hearsay.. Make what you may.

Seriously? He takes quite some hits by folks on his facebook and instagram but he seems to manage that very well.
Nah this isn't what happened, I think hes mixing it up with Martin Crowe. Crowe was the one who fell out with members and left. Neesham occassionally argued with some forumers but he left when his career started to become more serious and when it became probably a bit less of a good idea for him to post his thoughts about all things NZ cricket on a cricket forum.

Yeah sorry my mistake I haven't been around long enough to see any of them on here. No doubt a few are browsing or even posting under different names

That's pretty cool, perhaps this forums is what set him up as a cricketing web wizard. It had to have a beginning somewhere. Still surprises me the likes of Martin Crowe and Jimmy Neesham were on public forms airing their views... Particularly when they are doing this for earning. You have to have quite thick skin to get on forums if you are a playing professional... In my opinion, definitely not a good idea.
