True. Rahane as a replacement for Laxman is a bigger disappointment than Pujara as Dravid's replacement. Rahane had a better start than VVS in test cricket, but it is all downhill since then.

He has the most flawed technique of the lot for Australia's conditions but simply compensates through having balls of steel. A working man's hero.

Have only watched the wickets, barring Pant wicket most are expansive shots leading to wickets. I saw Pant racing away early in the inning. Is he any good in Aussie?

In any series, conditions notwithstanding, you're going to get one blinder and the remainder cringe from him. For a traditionally solid keeper, that would be a nice enough sweetener, but this guy can't keep for **** either.

Call me traditional and quite happy to get it wrong but I'm not convinced with either Shaw or Pant. Saw Shaw play at mount vs NZ A he wasn't all that good. Vihari looked in tremendous touch and likely will make a very good batsman. He needs to be given a go. Very organised batsman. What's this Indian team fetish work twenty 20 styled batting in test cricket?

Tell you what that Gill Bloke is a good batsman. Young but can hold a bat.

It's been relentlessly good bowling - bowling tight lines to good plans. Most of the batsmen who threw their wicket away (Rohit excluded) did so because they'd been set up for it. In, in, in, in, wide half volley that would be hittable but swings away type of stuff.

Swann was pretty good too. And lots of nice left-arm finger spinners come to mind, but aesthetically pleasing and effective right arm offies are so rare. Viru was very easy on the eye too, and occasionally very very good.
