Frankly I'm not sure I really prefer Head or Handscomb at this stage over MMarsh as terribad as he is. None are likely to score runs but at least Marsh can hit the thing hard like he did against England. Head will just nick off behind.

International Coach
Langer to stay back in Adelaide while the rest of the team travels to Perth to protest against Mitch's dumping - ala Border when Swampy was dropped against the same opponent, in the same city, en route to the same destination city 26 years ago!!!!!

The similarities - especially the love for the deposed man - are chillingly eerie.

Haze has been looking very good in recent times. His last couple of seasons he's underperformed by his standards but he looks red hot coming into this series.

Starc on the other hand is looking flat and not in the best of form.

Confirmed that half the top 6 are Victorians. Now just need a couple of quicks to pull up sore and siddle and tremain get a gig

****, you're right. Will need to revise my series prediction if they all stay in the side to an India win. Cue 25/6 scoreline before the NSW lads bail us out to 485 all out.

1st Test, India tour of Australia at Adelaide,

with Peter Handscomb taking the final batting spot while Marcus Harris has been confirmed for a debut opening the innings.

Harris will take his place alongside Aaron Finch with Usman Khawaja batting at No. 3.

The decision to leave out Mitchell Marsh means Tim Paine will be left with fewer bowling options although Travis Head can provide some part-time offspin.

Marsh had a lean series against Pakistan in the UAE which followed a tough time in South Africa where his runs dried. That came after an impressive 2017-18 Ashes where he made his two Test hundreds.

Australia XI 1 Marcus Harris, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Usman Khawaja, 4 Shaun Marsh, 5 Peter Handscomb, 6 Travis Head, 7 Tim Paine (capt & wk), 8 Pat Cummins, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 Nathan Lyon, 11 Josh Hazlewood

You would've thought the 5 bowler strategy would be more useful in a place like Australia where the frontline quicks might need more breaks. Wish Pandya was playing, he'd have been more useful here than in England or SA.

Ishant gets the nod for India. He's actually played a fair bit at Adelaide Oval, averages north of 70 with the ball here.

Make of that what you will
