So I guess my first choice XI would be

Rutherford, Worker, Young, Seifert, Rachin, Neesham, Anderson, Bracewell, Ferguson, Bennett, Rance

Btw, I don't know a whole lot about McConchie. Why is he in the squad? His stats are pretty average.

He's done alright as an all-rounder this season and bowls spin - averaging 27.3 with the bat and 20.8 with the ball. But still a bit of a weird choice

He's a batsman, only 26 and captains Canterbury - looks like he made his debut way back in 2011 but only started to score runs in the 16/17 season.

Has also randomly taken a whole lot of wickets this season with his offspin.

Great to see 3 Wellingtonians there, although the two aren't necessarily long time Wellingtonians. Great timing that meaning they'll not have to miss playing for firebirds. The super smash starts after the one day series I guess.

Cole is your classic bits and bobs all rounder.. He's a classic Anaru Kitchen Larsen selection 8-) Maybe he's an amazing fielder

This has already been a dreadful season in terms of weather. I'm barely seeing 2 days of sunshine and warmth. Bad timing for a series, in future they should schedule in March/April when we have our best weather. It must be bloody boring to sit around and do nothing for days.

Gee - I have enjoyed watching Ferguson’s wickets today.
Glorious - four short ones that the batsmen didn't fancy.

Really needs to make his test debut this summer, even if it's against soft opposition who are unlikely to handle his style of bowling. If Ferguson keeps bowling well he could be important to us in the big 19/20 season.

one of my female friends has been bonking a dude from the squad off tinder, I'm sure they can find some fun

ferguson absolutely needs to debut against soft opposition to let him build a bit of reputation. expecting us to do the usual dumb thing of debuting him against australia in australia or something.

Just letting everyone know, the first one dayer is on Sky sport from 1.50pm today. Yusss. Can't believe how little coverage domestic and A cricket gets in NZ (other than the Blackcaps). And if you're talking about high cost to cover it - They don't need 10 cameras. It's just a convenient excuse IMO.

That's wonderful and those that are done with Sky Sports there is live stream on nzc.nz as well.. Good initiative and my best guess probably Indian cricket board paying for the coverage as the feed also goes to Star Sports :-)
