There is no neighbouring country syndrome. There is just SR per averages. And England is dominating this.Miyagi just has overlooked neighbouring country syndrome. Skimmed through the thread and a) what do Bradman and McGrath have to do with this? and b) cricket isn't as simple as adding and subtracting averages. Butterfly effect and all that
40 year old fast bowler gets benched 2 years after he's retired. How is that relevant to anything? Miyagi just wishes anyone gave a **** about hobbitlandThere is no neighbouring country syndrome. There is just SR per averages. And England is dominating this.
Bradman, McGrath and Smith don't solve it. McGrath gets benched if you really want my opinion based on IPL facts. Symonds and Watson help no end in solving it.
I'm not adding and subtracting averages. You can take your butterfly effect (or ripples in a stone skimmed on a lake) - but the facts remain - not everyone can slog this way. No matter how big bats are, no matter how good the original GN Scoop was or the Chappel bros that used it.
Is that better or worse than PakPassion? An Australia-England tour thread worse than an India-Bangladesh one at PlanetCricket.
Amaze. Well done to everyone involved.
Noone in hobbitland conceded a 100 like Lewis or Tye #just saying :P40 year old fast bowler gets benched 2 years after he's retired. How is that relevant to anything? Miyagi just wishes anyone gave a **** about hobbitland
Miyagi has the biggest inferiority complex I've ever seen when it comes to anything Australia. He's obsessed and tries to manipulate everything into ridiculous nationalistic arguments and it's ruining every ****ing thread.Miyagi just has overlooked neighbouring country syndrome. Awww JediBrah, I have 481 reasons why this isn't remotely true.Miyagi has the biggest inferiority complex I've ever seen when it comes to anything Australia. He's obsessed and tries to manipulate everything into ridiculous nationalistic arguments and it's ruining every ****ing thread.
FFS, you're not even good at being condescending or do I need to ascend to a higher level of intellect to see the humour but I'll desist before this devolves into nationalistic dickwaving once more.Awww JediBrah, I have 481 reasons why this isn't remotely true.![]()
You quoted. You replied. You lost.FFS, you're not even good at being condescending or do I need to ascend to a higher level of intellect to see the humour but I'll desist before this devolves into nationalistic dickwaving once more.
Agreed, but they were already 4 or 5/450+ - do it earlier next time :PAnyway, England are pretty formidable right now and I'd like too see what happens when there's 3/20 in 4 overs which will eventually IMO.
You’re saying Australia needs a Jewish captain?Tim Paine, watching his post match interview yesterday it struck me what a courteous, gentile, honest and well-mannered individual he was...
I love bagels. I'm all for it.You’re saying Australia needs a Jewish captain?
LOL. great spot. damn typo. You’re saying Australia needs a Jewish captain?
Nah - you used past tense - Tim Paine is clearly still alive. And gentile means "non-Jew".LOL. great spot. damn typo.
'07 Aussies in a canter. McGrath would rip through the top and middle orders before you could say "moves it a bat's width". Hogg would spin out the tail.'07 Aussies had a similar aura, tbh. The whole 'just when you think you've got the guns out, look who's walking to the wicket....' thing. The bowling from the '07 a bit better, perhaps. Tough to pick a winner if they played against each other.
Move along, thats not the 2018 way. If you don't bat to 11 with bits and pieces bowlers you're delusional.'07 Aussies in a canter. McGrath would rip through the top and middle orders before you could say "moves it a bat's width". Hogg would spin out the tail.
Looking back over the last few World Cups.
'99 Warne ripped through South Africa in the semi-final and Pakistan in the final.
'03 McGrath dismisses Tendulkar in the first over of the Indian run chase and takes two more wickets in a thumping win.
'07 McGrath and Tait run through the SAffers in the semi final and restrict them to under 150, giving the batsmen an easy chase.
'11 Murali, Mendis and Malinga dismiss NZ cheaply to catapult themselves into the final. Indian bowlers each took 2 wickets to shut down the Pakistan chase to get themselves into the final.
'15 Starc takes the key NZ wicket in the first over. Faulkner, Johnson and Starc take a combined 8 wickets to dismiss NZ for under 200 and give their batsmen a big chase.
In every single world cup, key matches have been heavily influenced by bowlers. A world cup winning side needs to be good with both bat and ball and this England team really doesn't seem to have good bowlers (except against Australian batsmen, who are not very good). They also appear weak to high quality bowling, especially on a surface that gives the bowlers something. An ATG bowler or two would be able to put them on the back foot and cut the runs down significantly.
I think they'd win because they were a great team but a canter is too much, one feels. McG is McG so expect nothing but the best there. Tait hasn't been as good in T20's against the guys who ramp/flick/etc. so he'd have to respond to a top-7 who all do that. In a similar vein, Hogg and Bracken were quality ODI bowlers who liked bats coming at them hard so their MO was to turn the screws after an early wicket or two but I wonder how they'd go against a batting line-up with basically no restraints and no need to salvage after a wicket. I maintain the game would be tight.'07 Aussies in a canter. McGrath would rip through the top and middle orders before you could say "moves it a bat's width". Hogg would spin out the tail.
