Anyone wanna take sweepstakes on if it happens before or after someone scores 500 in an ODI?
Lets take bets on who chases it first.

My bet #not Australia.

Give me odds or STFU ;)

I guess bowlers don't take wickets which slows down the run rate...my mistake, I'll move along

Clearly you missed Chris Woakes at #8 taking England past 300 which Australia would struggle with wicketless.

You're in the dark ages. Do you still see off the new ball in teh first powerplay too? Keep those wickets in hand. Paine will need them as he approaches at 6 run an over strike rate - woah slogging!

Here comes the Paine - Cricket Australia's Way. (Ends the same as Carlito).

Stiff as a board but as soon as Stokes is fit, Hales comes out for mine and I think that's what'll happen. Roy and Bairstow are solid at the top together, hard enough to find, and although a special knock, Hales was battling to get in the side on form. Root at 3 is the best fit for him and the overall team consistency with a WC coming. When Hales comes off, sure, manic **** like yesterday happens but he doesn't come off enough to plan for it, one feels. And if both he and one of the openers doesn't tee off, that puts Root and Ali under a lot of pressure, as we saw when they couldn't get going at the end of the innings there. Stokes, of course, gives you a lot of options with bat, ball and in the field and is talismanic in a way that the others aren't, can change tempo, etc.

That said, jesus you're busting a gut to find any proper weaknesses no matter who you choose. Hales weakens the consistency only a little and the guys down the order are ****ing masters at regaining the initiative. Loved every minute of the absolute monstering the top-3 gave the Aussies. Even if none of the top-4 come off, you've gotta deal with Buttler and Morgan - nightmare. Brilliant problem for the England selectors to have to fit some of the most destructive ODI bats around into the same team.

You know your England cricket team as well as I do. Well done, sir.

It really is a contender - my competition is 1992 if Waqar hadn't been injured with peak Inzi and Javed (Akram Khan and Waqar on 'roids is like the entire Aus team on crack and steroids but passing all drug tests unlike Dre Russ). Discuss. ;)

'07 Aussies had a similar aura, tbh. The whole 'just when you think you've got the guns out, look who's walking to the wicket....' thing. The bowling from the '07 a bit better, perhaps. Tough to pick a winner if they played against each other.

It'll be England who do it. First Pakistan 2016 then this.

9/10 of England's highest one-day innings have all been scored 2015 - 2018!

Well, one team could play against a moving ball....

Miyagi just has overlooked neighbouring country syndrome. Skimmed through the thread and a) what do Bradman and McGrath have to do with this? and b) cricket isn't as simple as adding and subtracting averages. Butterfly effect and all that

IMO England isn't winning cos of opposition bowling attacks (they've smashed everyone already from Boult/Starc to Bumrah who is the best bar none - they're winning because besides Kohli and Ross Taylor noone is smashing their bowlers with disrepesct - and Steve Smith isn't the batsman to solve this - Risbah Pant maybe!@
