Oh God, the puns.I would like to see Josh Tongue (20) 6'4, 90mph given a go in the summer.
'Tongue, who has featured for England's U19s, has been tipped for a bright future in the game and was described as "something really special" by his Worcestershire team-mate and Australia all-rounder John Hastings'.
I think Santner will be dog tucker against the Pakistani quicks reversing it back into him. Realistically in the UAE we'll only be bowling 2 quicks (Wagner and Boult hopefully) so you can afford your 2nd spinner to be a specialist - which probably means Sodhi coming back in. I think ideally NZ would like to pair him with an off-spinner, but there aren't really any around the scene atm - Mark Craig hasn't really done enough yet to suggest he deserves a recall. So it'll most likely mean that it's Santner and Sodhi.Could we go Watling 6, (new improved ODI series batting form) Santner 7, Astle 7 in the UAE?

This would be amazing.Oh God, the puns.
When are SA next touring? "Tongue all over de Kock in epic climax."Oh God, the puns.
CdG in the UAE would be like Moeen Ali in Australia IMO. I expect him to play because as you say he hasn't done anything drop-worthy, but much like Neesham on the previous visit I don't think it'll work. Big question marks on that spot for sure.CdG has done nothing drop worthy guys. settle down.
He's also got the raw ability to be a test allrounder. Jury is out on the brain. We have Watling, so it's less important the allrounder averages 40+ with the bat.
I'm sure he'll soon get a taste of the action.Oh God, the puns.
Noone is 'not settled', CDG just needs to do certain things in order to make the spot his own. His bowling is what it is, so it's going to have to be with the bat that he finds a way to make contributions, especially away from home.CdG has done nothing drop worthy guys. settle down.

Yeah, they should play Santner/Sodhi in the UAE (or is Santner not going to be right by then?). Astle was only selected for this Test because he bats better, I have no doubt Ish would've played if we had a longer batting list. And he's been on a wicket tear this season. 28 wickets at 13 in this Plunket Shield season and done a great job in the NZ LO sides. I know Astle took 3-for in the 4th innings but Sodhi is a much, much better bowler to international batsmen, His dismissals in the latest game are flat out ***y.CdG in the UAE would be like Moeen Ali in Australia IMO. Depends who bowls with him as to how bad they might be, the Nottinghamshire pair will add to it I guess.Oh God, the puns.
They don't talk NZ/ENG at all apart from 30 seconds at the end. Entire show is about Smith and Australia. And Tuffers and Vaughan..(Talk Steve Smith and NZ/Eng) https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09wrkpf
Haha, yeah discovered that after posting it, having only made it half-way through. They don't talk NZ/ENG at all apart from 30 seconds at the end. Entire show is about Smith and Australia.
That's a shame - the last day of our test was bloody superb and shouldn't be so overlooked. They don't talk NZ/ENG at all apart from 30 seconds at the end. Entire show is about Smith and Australia.
