There might be a bit of politics but I don't think they ve gone way out of their bounds to do it. They wanted to go with 5 pace bowlers after looking at the pitch. Morris is away on paternity leave, taking Olivier will weaken the batting further. So, Andile was the option. Makes sense from their POV.

Now that Kumble is not there to cover up for him, Kohli's getting exposed as a captain. He has no sense of which players to play and what combination. He lacks the very common cricket knowledge. Its shocking.

Just shows you, the guys with the most natural ability often aren't great captains. Kohli, AB, Ian Botham, Lara etc.

I like Andile too, but that does not mean he should be playing... he is not a Test bowler, batsman or allrounder yet. Give him time to develop. And we certainly don't need him more than Maharaj even on a green top. Another batsmen makes far more sense with a 4 man pace attack.

I don't think I've ever seen a pitch or series context etc in which I thought five genuine seamers would be a good idea in a Test match, or even a First Class match or any kind. If you think it's going to really suit the quicks then it'll be a low scorer and you shouldn't need five bowlers. The selection from both teams here is ****ing stupid. If they didn't see a role for a spinner they both should've just gone with an extra batsman.

With every match I think more and more that India would be better off with someone else as captain. Kohli is not qualified for the job at all, they're just following the worldwide trend of "make your best young batsman the captain".

How about picking someone who would be the best captain guys? Talking to you England, Australia, India

There's no pitch on which you need five fast bowlers. Most of the time four is a mistake when it's done. If the pitch is that favourable to seam that you can play five then four will get the job done fine and you'll need the extra bat.
