Rough on Ashwin imo. Was disappointing in the previous test but did OK in the first. Bhuvi is in so that's good.

Have a feeling though that Rahane is going to stink it up, and Kohli will go "I told you so" and drop him forever.

What's the pitch like exactly? Cricinfo commentary making it sound like the sort of surface I can only dream of seeing in Australia.

Hopefully this is a competitive test but I wouldn't be surprised if this turned into the customary drubbing after being kinda competitive for two tests thing that so many away teams do these days.

Why have both sides gone in with 5 quicks? Especially India?

I can understand not picking a spinner on a green-top like this but surely 4 bowlers is enough in that case, and you're better off going with an extra batsman. Surely another batsman will offer more than a 5th fast bowler?

I just don't get it

Jimmy's number 1

On the team selection, I've always said that Philander at 7 to accommodate 5 bowlers is a bad ploy and that's when you're looking at a balanced attack with a spinner.

If you're doing it to play a 5th seamer it's an even larger fail IMO.

What don’t you get?

Indian selection - stupidity
South African selection - politics

No reason to pick Andile except politics...

Big Vern is unplayable here. Big risk batting first from kohli
There might be a bit of politics but I don't think they ve gone way out of their bounds to do it. They wanted to go with 5 pace bowlers after looking at the pitch. Morris is away on paternity leave, taking Olivier will weaken the batting further. So, Andile was the option. Makes sense from their POV.

Ja, no look, if you can't bowl India out on this deck with four quicks Andile isn't going to make much of a difference.

Really think he was just picked to get the African numbers up.

Kohli has low IQ / intelligence, it is clear to see. Defies all logic that he is playing with 5 fast bowlers on a BOWLING pitch!

And this is the heights of illiteracy to play with just 5 batsmen with a couple of them walking ducks and with openers having little chance of surviving. So you are down to just 2-3 batsmen who can score some runs.

Also pujara was plumb, DRS rules are a bit of a joke.

India are already two wickets down & more wickets are going to fall soon. So It'll be a mini achievement for India to even get 150+, especially after the toss blunder. #Intent
