Kohli did something similar last time Saf toured India. Got defensive and did some ungracious waahing by telling journos that they cannot have a negative opinion because they don't get out in the middle and play, presumably in response to them questioning the pitches. Less said about his comments after Australia toured last year the better too.

I am not sure rohit is better then rahane even on asian pitches. If you look at rohits stats his record at home exluding Sri lanka and west indies is very average. Rahane isnt great but he still played some good inning against SA and Australia. And even when the two played together in SL when SL had a more competitive team rahane performed as well as rohit despite playing out of position to accomodate rohit.

Agreed, even Yuvi had some boss knocks v England at home. Rohit has smashed West Indies and Lanka. Who gives a **** about runs against those two?

Instead of bashing the under-fire side, Dhoni decided to look at the positives when analysing Virat Kohli and his charges performance in South Africa thus far.

"I would say look at the positives. To win a Test match you need 20 wickets and we have taken 20 wickets," Dhoni was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

"If you are not able to get 20 wickets, you can't win a Test match irrespective of whether you are playing in India or you are playing outside. But that is the big positive. We are taking 20 wickets."

Agree with the horses for courses theory but the one caveat with that is that players get better with match practice and experience. If they're not playing for months or even >1 year they will get worse.

By the way, does no one else feel sorry for poor Umesh. Bowled his heart out all season while Ishant comes in and does well in one series and Bumrah gets to debut with no FC practice and suddenly he's at the back of the queue. What the hell...
I think there is a lot of domestic cricket played in India, don't think players should have a problem in staying in their rhythm. And in fact, they can plan a lot better when they know their role, they can play county cricket or for some other foreign domestic tournament and prepare themselves.

And I am surprised about Umesh's exclusion too, would have been an absolute nightmare for the batsmen in the first test.

Kind of agree with that, but his ODI performances push people to give him more chances (and that's wrong).

Doh'li is a Delhi boi who obviously never got slapped around as a kid. God how I'd love to kick in his chipmunk face. Too bad he's surrounded by a bunch of bearded lady boys.
