SA batting lineup apart from AB looks very vulnerable.. Not very confident about them facing Australian bowlers tbh..
Think we alright, all bar QDK have put something up now. Biggest issue is QDK if we go for a 6/5 split. Tail is a touch long but we`ve known that for awhile, hopefully ABdV makes up for that.

If I was Indian supported I'd still be furious at the lack of any credible preparation for this series. Admittedly teams that are put out these days to play against the touring team are of questionable quality, but for an Indian team playing in conditions nothing like what they're used to (although this last Test had some comparisons) for them to have a realistic hope of winning the series, and not just trying to be as competitive as possible, they needed to in SA earlier than they were and with a couple of tour games lined up to build some familiarity with conditions. They may well still have found themselves 2-0 down at this point, but you have to give yourself the best opportunity.

I know schedules these days allow little time for a couple of weeks in a country before the Tests start, but this is still an essential part of succeeding in away series.
Sorry the last minute unnecessary SL series was India's own fault and I have no sympathy... we would have loved for India to arrive earlier. get 4 tests in and some tour games; before having a much shorter LO section.

Batting conditions have been tough for the most part, South Africa's batsmen have always done enough to keep them out of India's reach, of course they don't need to score quite as many runs as most sides due to their bowling attack, but the likes of Markram, de Villiers, du Plessis, Amla, have all had important moments in this series that contributed to the series win. Even Dean Elgar who has scratched around and looked completely out of nick, has still scored a few runs.

I have no sympathy for them at all, I'm sure such preparation is still in their own hands.

Surely Faf and Gibson aren't entertaining thoughts of a five man pace attack. Given the conditions they're likely to face I'd play Bavuma/De Bruyn in place of Maharaj that's if they're thinking of changes.

Australia’s main weakness would be moving ball and that’s the sort of wickets SA should prepare (I reckon Faf has asked for slow seaming wickets for Australia). Their own batsman wouldn’t be safe either but hopefully they can outscore Aussies..

Well, we won in Hobart and Perth not so long ago.

I don't think it's as hard as it is being made out to be. Australia are always competitive and you have to be at your best to beat them.

Late summer I can imagine there will be spin at the coastal venues too potentially.

May depend on Markrams injury and if they want to replace Maharaj with Morris?

Yes but SA always lose to Australia at home, and vice versa. It's tradition at this point.

He has already done that.confirmed it during an interview at the zim test.

True. True.

Yeah the lost two series have been disappointing. A draw and loss when we really were expected to win both.

Wanderers seems problematic against them as we lose these cliff-hangers when they chasing 320 and they 8/9 down.

Fiery press conference from Virat Kohli today. Counter-questioned me about "what is India's best XI" and later asked a South African journalist about "how many times SA have come close to winning in India". #SAvInd

oh dear.
We got smashed the last time we toured. But I'm pretty sure we have won more there than India have here? I hate that sort of thinking. Cricket isn't a one condition sport. India are fantastic at home but they have been poor away for so long. Kohli needs to look at that before pointing out other people's failings away from home. Log in my eye, Splinter in another person's etc etc

That is a very disappointing answer from Kohli. If I was an Indian fan I would be even more disappointed. Just have some humility you f**k

Besides his tantrum and fine supposedly he was involved in heavy altercations and sledging with Elgar during the match too :D

If Kohli said that, that's so ****ing lame. Ugh. SA have had way more success in India than we've had in SA. ****s like Kohli and Rohit (who made the same comment last time) need to read a history book.

Even if SA had never won a test in India its a pathetic statement to make.

It's dissapointing either way. This pitch was the most unSouth African I've ever seen. Not much to be salty about if you ask me.

On a side note I think he finds Elgar particularly annoying because he is the total opposite of an 'intent' player in Kohlis eyes.
