The ref doesn't even have the 'well from where I was standing it looked like a penalty' defence. There's a couple of angles where it looks like it might be a penalty then you see the ref's view and it's a clear dive.Lanzini's diving charge is hard to argue with, properly hilarious that the ref fell for it, but the incident encapsulates the British double-standard on cynicism. The Stoke lad tries to end the attack earlier by diving feet-first into the back of his legs 10 feet from the ball, and had he succeeded in taking him down it would have been no more than a yellow card. Then he gets up just in time to call Lanzini a cheat for diving. Load of bollocks.
As far as the double standard goes, it bothers me that players who dive risk a retrospective ban yet Kane and Dele will face no action for a pair of disgraceful challenges.
