Played on a more seamer friendly deck than any seen in Australia for years literally a couple of weeks ago
I was thinking 'if Kolkata can do it why can't we'?

Burgey's attitude to our pitches is why we never learn to bat in England. To learn to bat against seam movement you need to have some to start off with.

Yeah the pitches for the India series were super flat. Probably the flattest I've seen in this country.

Hobart has been bowler friendly for some time. The SCG is somewhat spin friendly but not as much as it used to be. The WACA has alternated between road and bouncy road, which is pretty much how it's played for its entire existence. The MCG is a road. The Gabba is a road which hasn't even had its slight green tinge for many a year.
The Gabba wicket for the first test was atrocious.

This generation can’t bat in England because they grew up in the great 2001-2008 drought.

India have a good cricket team.

Australia have a good cricket team.

Neither have a hope in hell of winning an away series against each other.

Australia hasn't produced a decent home grown professional boxer in 20 years.

India hasn't produced a decent football player ever.

Lets all agree on the points above and move on.

The batsmen couldn’t see in Kolkata because of the pollution.

we are pretty crap in Asia but we're always a chance of winning a test. Even in our overseas ashes defeats over the years we always have some stand out performances and are never a risk of getting whitewashed

the SL tour was shocking I don't think we've ever played worse. In India last time we fared far better

There sfa wrong with this deck for batting. I don't think bowling again is that obviously a good idea.

i agree. basically what nicholas said. I reckon England will dig in and go big second time around. Odds are one of the boys will finally find form and ton up

I hate sending teams back into bat even since Laxman's 281. Just go ODI mode for a session or two at the very least then make them chase something unchaseable

The two asian tours before the SL tour were also whitewashes (Ind 2013, UAE 2014). Aus played well this year in India but then again even we won a test in England and weren't whitewashed in any of our last overseas tours if that's the benchmark we are adhering to.

These two aren't going too badly. Just showing how much the other batsmen sucked. Totally mentally checked out.

Come on lads. We're over using the short stuff here. Lets attack the ****ing stumps a bit shall we eh?
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The comedy value in making Overton and Woakes **** themselves diminishes once you get to the 30th or 40th bouncer. Get the pricks out.

enforcing the follow-on in the sub-con where the wickets generally deteriorate a lot is a dumb idea.

In England, if the overhead conditions are favourable or time is an issue in the game... then you enforce.

Aus should just grind Eng into the ground.

I'm afraid the odds really aren't in favour of that at all.

Not that it matters one iota what Smith chooses to do.

i guess historically even in series defeats I always feel Australia produce days of total magic. So even in that horrible SL whitewash we bowled like champions quite often. Lyon and SOK had moments of true greatness in India.

Our batting is just horrible on spinning decks but yeah, we seem to always be able to 'compete'. Rarely do I watch a match and think we have no chance like what happens every time I watch WI play
