That's exactly where Kallis helps so much though. In Aus conditions he wouldn't make that much of a difference, but he'd make that lineup beastly overseas. English conditions are probably still a slight weakness but fmd.

He will block one end and the 'hard but fair/intent' approach would lead to lollapses with Hayden trying to be a slog sweep hero.:p

Broad's hardly bowled and his pace is still down. Has he had injury issues recently? If not really bad management for him to not be in optimum physical shape for the 1st test.

I think he's dropping his pace deliberately tbf. He did it yesterday to try and bowl tight lines and cutters, then once a new batsman came in he was immediately 140+ again.
