Road to the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia

Not a hit the deck 90mph pluser there though. It is all green seamy/swing stuff.
You'd never knock back someone like that if you had him but it isn't essential to competing, even winning in Australia. England won in 10/11 with Anderson, Tremlett, Bres and Swann. England also did well in 98/99 when Gough and Headley, both skidders were contributors to a team that almost drew that series. Even the home team got consistently more out of McGrath and Warne than say Lee and Johnson. Not ideal, true, but not impossible and given our fragile batting there are reasons and precedents to pin hopes. Your batting is shite though.

They could well have shockers but i so ****ing hope Jimmy and Broad both have great series. Even if we loose ill be content if those two do well.

The lack of respect shown them by some on here is really getting on my ****.

Yes. A five day pass to Sydney with gold member privileges. I plan getting out there early, use the gym and the pool, attend the usual breakfast soirée out back of the pavilion then leave my seat and sit in the air conditioned bar in the new Noble Stand with prawns, oysters and champagne.

It’s how we usually do it.

May have to give up a day or two as Green Shield is on at that time.
It’s not quite day 4 at the Gabba is it...

Anderson and Broad are very good. No denying it. Broad is more suited to Aussie decks than Anderson but these two both have a lot of respect over here.

But they're garbage because they're English and all English are garbage.

How wasn’t tremlett a 90+mph bang-it-in merchant in that series?

Thought he he bowled a fair bit quicker than that. Bloke was a weapon that series either way, wasn’t he?

Massive. Injuries before and after robbed him then ended him. From memory he only came in after Finn was dropped or Broad was injured. Think it was one of those things. He wasn't a bad second choice.

Thing about Finn is that while he's tall and looks a hit the deck guy I think commentators keep saying he should pitch it up. Can't really say for sure but its almost like he's picked to bang it in and then gets told on tour to pitch it up.

I'll show Broad respect when he shows respect to the game of cricket by apologizing for not walking like a piece of dirt.

Let's face it, we all know it. Anderson's going to be rubbish.

The bloke has an away record which is slightly better than Indian spearhead Ishant Sharma (149 wickets @35 in 47 games vs 146 wickets@37 in 47 games). The guy's entire reputation of being not completely rubbish overseas is because of one series where he got wickets against an Australia lineup with Shane ****ing Watson as the most consistent batsman and a "great" series in India where he picked up a grand total of 12 wickets in 4 tests against a lineup consisting of a geriatric Sachin, a Sehwag who was literally wearing glasses and Pujara and Kohli who'd barely hit puberty at the time. Truly great achievements those. The vast statistical sample of his overseas bowling suggests, as I mentioned before, that he's literally Ishant Sharma, only with 2 fewer 5fers in the same number of games. Atleast they'll have an excuse ready though... Like when he takes a pounding in India its because his ribs are suddenly broken for some reason or he goes to SA and averages 117 and they say it's because he broke his toenail. And we're supposed to believe he'll somehow do well in a country with the flattest pitches in the world against a lineup which revels in pounding attacks to dust on roads. OK.

It's fine though. There'll be a convenient excuse ready and he'll go back to England and take 76 wickets @12 by destroying greats like Kyle Hope and Jehan Mubarak and everything will be fine and dandy. Can't really say he relies heavily on swinging conditions though, oh no... But isn't Cook's mediocre home record excused because the conditions favour bowling so much? Nah I'm sure fans wouldn't be stupid enough to say that. Itd reveal the blatant double standards and expose Anderson for the hackfraud he truly is.

There's a better chance of him averaging 25 with the bat than there is with the ball. Book it.

Has Burgey hacked OS's account or something?

Has Ishant Sharma been the key to a series win in Australia ****? No.......so zip it and get the **** out of our thread. You're banned.

Edit:

And Harsh can be banned too for liking this nonsense.

Did James Anderson ever bounce out the entire English middle-lower order to win a famous test at Lords? I think the answer is no.
