Duanne Olivier starting his 9th over this spell ?

Haven't seen this since the Great Pete Siddle at Adelaide.

And still hit Mahmudullah on the head and had 2 edges off Mushy drop short in the gully in the over.

Considering they have been playing QDK at 6... it leaves Philander at 7... so Philander, Maharaj, Rabada, Morkel, Steyn.
Agreed. Given that Phehlukwayo batted at 7 in the first test against Bangladesh there's no reason that Philander couldn't bat at 7 as it's not as though you can say Phehlukwayo's a better batsman than Philander.

And that bowling line-up - it really says something when Morne Morkel has the weakest record. Is it currently possible to put together a better one from a single country? (apart from maybe Abbott in for Morkel if he were available :D)

Olivier's accuracy with the short stuff this morning has been excellent. Continually at the ribs head area... feeling a little sorry for the Bang batsmen, look little deer in headlights at the moment.

More confused thinking from Bangladesh in their attempts to conquer the short ball attack employed by the South Africans. One warm-up game was never going to be enough for them to individually formulate plans against the threat of the short ball and you can see in their innings they don't seem to be sticking to any plans, just really muddied thinking.

Credit to Rabada and Olivier in particular this morning, fairly relentless in their accuracy.

So I'm expecting this to be a relatively high quality partnership between Mahmudullah and Das and long may it continue, but I feel it may well be followed by a procession of wickets when an end gets opened up.

Unfortunately that partnership didn't last as long as I'd have hoped but a lovely piece of bowling from Phehlukwayo, setting Das up with two or three deliveries going away from him then gets one to tail back in and removes his off pole.

Another one down and here we go. Mahmudullah follows quickly to give the irrepressible Rabada his 100th Test wicket, some feat, and it was another athletic snaffle, this time from Dean Elgar. Superb catch.

Feel like Phehlukwayo could become a very good bowler if he could get an extra yard of pace, accurate tends to get some movement, just not quite quick enough. But it feels like he bowls within himself and could definitely find it.

Yes he's not too dissimilar in pace to big Vern, but Philander certainly seems to hit the deck harder and bowl a heavier ball than Phehlukwayo. His control when the ball's been reversing here has been very good, shown useful skills and set the batsmen up well. I agree that if he could just put on a yard or so of pace he could become a real contender for the side on a regular basis.

Yeah Phehlukwayo definitely has a lot of promise as a bowler. He makes things happen, if he get his pace up he could be excellent.
