Road to the 2017-18 Ashes in Australia

Even from an England perspective it's disappointing that James Pattinson won't be making at least the first Test, but I guess it eases the selection problem for Australia for that opening Test now, presumably if Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon find or maintain optimum fitness that's likely to be the bowling attack for the opener.

Oh I thought Pattinson was already injured anyway. **** he's becoming worse than Cummins at this point

That Pattinson keeps getting injured despite having a ‘remodelled’ action sadly means that I can’t see him ever fulfilling his immense promise and talent at international level.

I wish this started right now when I have nothing much to do at work. I'll be pretty free around the Perth and MCG Tests, though. :D

Patto confirmed as gone for the series with a recurrence of the back stress fracture. **** news.

****. It's not like he's had much in the way of workload recently. Making Shane Bond and Ian Bishop look like paragons of endurance.

Probably the bowler I most look forward to seeing.

It's a blow for the Aussies, but there was no way Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood and Pattinson were going to be fit for the majority of the Ashes. He was probably the most likely to pull up lame and so I suppose they'd rather it be him than any of the others.

And this is why Pattinson was always up against it to play. The bodies of the rest have stabilised, niggles aside. His hasn't. Sad but until it does, he should be outside reckoning for the forseeable.
