Rashid might actually be a better use of a spot than another **** fast bowler who's going to get spanked anyway. If he bowls well he can take some big wickets, if he is **** then just don't bowl him anymore.
We will take Crane anyway, there must be a reason Rashid has been ignored this summer and that is they don't rate him for test cricket. Will play all the pyjama stuff though as he is easily the best spinner we have in that form.

Traveling home on QF450 this afternoon they had Ashes Memories on the entertainment app, and I was able to watch the time they had Richard Dawson as their front line spinner.

Why has this thread title suddenly had the words "in Australia" added on the end. To avoid confusion with the other Ashes in Guatemala?

Remember when England's specialist spinner was Scott Borthwick
Who developed as an excellent number three following that Ashes, then went to Surrey to improve his spin and get more overs and is now playing for the Surrey Seconds. A reminder that moving club is often a disaster.

That's not batting to 9, that's batting to 7

Maybe I was being a bit generous to Broad and TRJ :). Still think that top six is good enough for the Aussie bowling attack, have to get the bulk of the runs there.

Yeah it's funny, Stokes, Bairstow and Ali all don't look out of place alone in the top 6 but you shove all 3 of them there and it looks a little shakey. however at least its an english top 6 with no scrubs for once

Finn might have just bought himself an Ashes ticket.

And at the same time Hameed, according to the scorecard, carries his bat. Only not really, he went off retired hurt before coming back out at 11. Hopefully that doesn't take him out of contention through injury.

Still have absolutely no idea how a chunk of this squad will look.

Why would a seventh bowler, y'know, help?

Funny cause it looks ridiculous at first, but when you think about it, it's a very inventive way of overcoming the lack of quality English batsmen. Just pick more bowlers.

However this team would only really make sense if you don't rate Stokes or Moeen as bowling options in Australia at all (and hence need the other bowlers), and are effectively playing them as batsmen.
