I've always admired Guha, a man of wide knowledge and depth. I'd definitely take his words seriously.

India After Gandhi was incredibly bad so guess I'm disagreeing. Haven't read his cricket books though.

Guha was recently interviewed on the eve of the India-Pakistan T20, I think.

He said he wanted Pakistan to win, for two reasons - one, that an India win leads to a "rise in Indian egotism and triumphalism", and two, because "Pakistan deserved something good".

He is the sort of person who knows that the tomato is a fruit, but unfortunately also insists on including it in a fruit salad.

The disqualified men were openly attending BCCI meetings, claiming to represent their state association, and indeed played a leading role in the concerted (if fortunately in the end aborted) attempt to get the Indian team to boycott the Champions Trophy
Why though

Whatever it takes!!!
Lol.. what else was he supposed to say? And AFAIC he has done a much better job than many captains before him did.

The captain-coach rift is the least concerning of the allegations. If it exists, it has grounding in cricketing strategic and tactical issues like team selection and player camps. They're not extraneous issues to the game.

The conflict of interest allegations against Gavaskar, Dravid and Ganguly are far more damning.

Ashwin really needs some time off I feel. Hasn't looked right since the Aus tour. Needs to work on his fitness too.

Yea I forgot he didn't play the IPL when I made that post

He needs to be dropped basically. Can't be playing ODIs bowling this way, and maybe even Tests? Just looks shot. And I don't think he'll get better by continuing to play International cricket. Might need more time off to recharge his batteries and get over any niggles. Or maybe just needs to rediscover his groove in domestic cricket.

And yes less idlis
