Has been back since August as well for the record. So thats 3 PPVs hes participated in, 1 as a jobber, 1 as a lower card heel threat and 1 as the new WWE champion. It's pretty unprecedented.
It is, but when it's a chicken **** heel, it works. Sort of. It would be disastrous for pretty much any other gimmick.

I mean, it's taking the piss a bit. Jinder Mahal is the level of the guy that the chickenshit heel uses to help him win. JBL/Miz/Rollins all played a chickenshit heel but all were much further up the card before this happened. It's a legitimate rags to riches story, but with a heel, and instead of using the lower card guys do to your dirty work, it's a lower card guy using seemingly random little Indian dudes off the street for his dirty work. Have the Singh brothers even be acknowledged as actual wrestlers yet by commentary?

Jinder winning the US title with an anti-American gimmick would fit so much better without being ridiculous.

Not saying it's good. I'm just at the same level of apathy that Spikey is at.

Yeah, this is what should've happened.

I just deeply deeply hope they're not going to give us a prolonged Orton/Mahal feud and get someone different in the picture.

Nakamura
AJ Styles
and
Sami Zayn are all pretty much free for a new feud.

Give the belt back to AJ and have Cena chasing the record whenever he returns. Or AJ can hold it forever. Eitherway.

Whatever it takes!!!

But its kinda already happening with Owens and it happened earlier with Rusev and I m sure there were others. That story has happened a lot for it to feel any fresher just because its Jinder. I am not saying this is great but it is still better than seeing Orton as the champ, honestly.

Ah maybe, but who cares? Thia is pro wrestling, a world where undead morticians are dominant and assaulting your boss is actively encouraged. This is far from.the most illogical thing that has ever happened, lukewarm reception or not.

Rusev vs Jinder is one I'd be interested in seeing. As long as it's not Mojo vs Jinder or something along those lines.

Haha, the crowd would have no idea what to do. Imagine if Jinder got face pops? A real test of how much they really hate Cena.
Haha I imagine it would be pretty mixed actually. Cena certainly isn't getting the same level of hate he was a few years back (I suspect a lot of that has migrated towards Reigns these days), and Jinder does get a lot of legit heel heat, so who knows?

That said, Jinder was getting quite a few cheers the other night, so him getting a face reaction is not totally out of the question I guess.

I can't imagine them giving Cena his 17th over Jinder Mahal.

That's a Sudden Death Overtime Iron Man Match vs AJ Styles, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn kind of moment.

Can see it easily tbh.

Build Jinder up as the foreign heel for a few months. Cena returns as the American hero in the lead up to Summerslam. 17th title reign is something to promote the second biggest show of the year with. Writes itself really.

I don't think so. You know how WWE like to do this. It's like when Dolph was Chavo's caddy or whatever. Were even J&J security acknowledged as former wrestlers?

I think the only difference between Jinder and Owens/Rollins/other heel champs is that when Jinder is part of a boring title match with a **** finish, it won't be a disappointment. Obviously Jinder shouldn't actually be champion, but they do a whole heap of stupid stuff all the time for reasons that are bewildering (I mean, this actually has an understandable reason!). May I remind you that is all a chain reaction from AJ dropping the title....

What's there to buy? He's not squashing guys in 2 minutes flat. He's a heel relying on outside interference to avoid pinfalls and create distractions. You don't have to buy that he's good at all. I actually thought the way they worked the Naka match was a million times worse from a buying perspective. Naka got beat up by frickin' Dolph Ziggler for like 15 minutes while JBL/Vince said he's now in the major leagues. Dolph came out looking a heap better I reckon, and that's insane.
