CD playing Auckland in this fi all round.

Trying to work out how CD can go past Auckland into 4th place.

4 points behind, down on NRR, so would have to beat Auckland with a BP.

Interesting to see Anderson batting at number 3 for Northern. Wonder if it's a sign that he's focusing on becoming more of a specialist bat.

Well ND have had Seiffert, Carter, Popli, Kuggeleijn in the top 6 - with sub-20 career averages.

He and Brownlie are giants among the ND batting pygmies.

Worked for them in the T20 comp I guess. Though Immenso's is a fair point too.

First List A fifty for Popli, who has been quiet this season after being a standout the last. It's off 80 balls though which, as much as he's rare cake in an icing-overloaded side, is still too slow.

In other news, Nicholls just keeps scoring runs.

Auckland 200/3 at 32 overs before all out for 237 - a selection of revolting wickets especially the four given to Worker.

Should give CD a chance for the bonus point - what's that, chase in 40 overs or something?

Auckland looked like they overdosed on icing.

Otago aren't ****ing around in pursuit of ND's 280. 180/5 after 20 overs! Are they going for a bonus point?

Yeah they are, but also Otago's faint hope of making the top 4 tonight would come via destroying ND's NRR and vastly improving theirs.

That is ****ing atrocious.

Auckland had one job today as the4th placed team playing the 5th placed team in the final round. Don't get thrashed and give your 5th placed opponents a chance for a bonus point.

Chapman and CDG are the stinker dismissals there. Especially CDG hitting down long off's throat the next ball after Chapman.

Haha yeah, Auckland have really handed CD a chance of overtaking them here. CD's batting lineup today incredibly strong too and perfectly placed to score quickly for the bonus point, notwithstanding that Taylor got himself out to Munro trying to back-cut a ball that wasn't short. Young, Bruce, Cleaver, KNB, Wheeler should be able to score the last 90 quickly, barring a collapse.

Not bad from Kitchen in Otago's chase either - 130*(76)!
They're 267/8 after 30 overs chasing 289, so it could go either way.

Points Tables
Bonus Point (Run Rate 1.25x Opponents')
Would assume they calculate the Auckland innings' run rate over the full 50 overs rather than the 43.2 they lasted, which means CD need to chase it in 40 overs for the BP.

40 runs needed from 4 overs then.

Though looking at that points table, with ND losing badly, CD winning without the bonus point would still take them to third place on NRR.

Actually , CD have better NRR than Auckland already. So, just need the win.

Auckland might lose out to Otago now .....

Heh, after missing out on the T20 semis by NRR of 0.01 iirc, Auckland now miss out on the Ford Trophy semis despite having the same points and a higher NRR than Northern Districts. Bonus points used as the tie-breaker this time.
