i was going to say no but then i remembered southee, milne and ferguson were all picked really early so maybe

but leaning towards the usual suspects.
Nah, Southee had a full (and very succesful) season under his belt before his NZ call up. Ferguson also had very decent numbers behind him in FC and List A cricket. Milne was a genuine bolter, but he's an actual 150k bowler, not a "150k bowler" like Gibson - and he was the first of his kind since Bond had retired. I think the selectors are probably a lot less likely to gamble on a teenage pie thrower given that we've already got Ferguson, Milne and possibly Kugz floating around the scene.

Gibson doesn't appear any quicker than a Tickner currently, late 130's maybe? He's not doing enough special stuff to be an actual bolter at this stage. We've still got to get through the Nuttall and Jamieson's (who have actually proved they are good bowlers) before someone like Gibson is thrown an opportunity.

Would be nice is Kuggs is found innocent and hat is in the ring next year, could be a handy player in the shorter formats. Even in tests as an aggressive 3rd seamer, middle/lower order batter. He doesn't break down constantly like our other back up options.

tickner hasn't been very useful to date for CD. just looked at his statz too and didn't realise they were that bad. 14 fc games for an average of 60. i thought it was more 35-40

He will be too good for Baywide club cricket ....

Although the role of the adult in the college teams playing club cricket is to coach, and bat down the order etc to give the boys a chance and experience but with some adult backbone.

Great coup for TBC. Mark Orchard was (is?) their coach / adult player.

All 3 FT games weather effected today.

If all 3 get washed out, with no reserve days, might have 100% of domestic professional cricketers in NZ playing zero cricket for 7 days in the middle of summer.

Yeah stupid stuff, should being playing every 3rd day at least, 2 rounds, with the final being all wrapped up within a month.

So in the end there's been play so far in all three matches, with only Wellington v CD currently disrupted.

Notable performances so far:
Worker 80*
Bennett 5 overs 1/15
Rippon 83
Nicholls 111* while four of his top-6 team-mates dismissed in single digits
Kuggeleijn 8.3 overs 2/22
Sodhi 8 overs 2/36

While it may be hard to push for a spot as an ODI seamer with Boult, Southee, Henry and Ferguson all there, I'm at least more interested in Bennett than I am in McClenaghan returning from injury. Though I can't remember off the top of my head how Bennett has gone bowling at the death lately.

Also, Nicholls just keeps scoring runs one way or the other.

Kuggeleijn is just becoming really really good.

He's improved steadily every season. So after 5 years he's now flipping good.

Keep him away from Jurgensen .....

In a general post.

IMO I don't think NZ have had such a depth of pace before in domestics.

Milne and Fergusson 150kph, and Bennet & Kuggeleijn 145kph. Spread over 4 domestic teams (when they're actually playing).

I mean these guys are that sort of pace and are also actually good.

Southee and Boult even started to get their pace up at moments this summer too. Couldn't remember how many seasons it had been since Southee touched the high 130s.

I know Kuggs has been bowling well. But it's weird Craig Cumming & the other domestic commentators keep going on about his good pace, when the speed gun was showing around 132-133 kms.

Also Bennett's surely not even close to the 145 mark these days is he? Maybe at his quickest back in 2011, but now?

I think Bennett is quicker now than 2011. Due to his better action. In 2011 it could come out anywhere between 130 and 145 with same apparent effort.

In 2014 on his international recall v India he was consistently 140s. And looked heavy ball.

Although in my internal speed rankings in my head I have upgraded Kuggs from a 140 to a 145 after seeing Ferguson consistently breaking 150 at international level.

Previously; using Milne as the measured base and judging the others from pooch coverage. I had Ferg as 145-150, Bennett 140s, Kuggs as 138 to low 140s

Worth keeping in mind Ferguson gets through about 3 overs at 150+ pace before dropping down to low 140s.

Like most fast bowlers, to be fair. He had a big drop off in his second spell against Oz in Oz, but I wouldn't say that's every game. Had a good fast spell on Monday which lasted about 7 overs?

Domestic speed gun is slow remember Zinzan. Wheeler was shown at 125ks-130ks, and plays for NZ the next week bowling mid 130's.
